6th Birthday Party for Lil' Bit (aka Princess Peanut)

#1 Post by Appa23 » Mon Mar 10, 2008 10:54 am

We decided to have her party at our dance studio. For a mere $85, she and her ten girl classmates had two hours of non-stop fun. Best idea that we ever had, and hopefully it will swing some business to the studio (other parties or dance lessons next year).

The owners' 15 year-old daughter (Ellisa) ran the party, and my wife said that she did an amazing job. There was never a lull or dull moment. She had the girls dress up and strut a cat walk. (Of course, my daughter decided to end her strut with a high leg kick and then catch.)

Besides tumbling on the mats and dancing the Macarena and to YMCA, Ellisa also choreographed a dance to "I'm A Big Girl Now" (from Hairspray) and taught them the steps so that they could perform it at the end of the party.

The cutest part was the reaction of her team mates at the studio. She had insisted on giving invitations to her "Big Sister", Olivia (who is 14), and the studio owners' other daughter, Isabelle, who is nearly 9 and is the subject of near idol-worship by my daughter. We let each know that they really did not need to show up, as we would explain that they had other things that they had to do. Still, each showed up and gave a very nice gift. (Olivia also helped with the party, so my wife paid her $30.)

Prior to the party, as there is a huge competition next weekend, several of the soloists and duos/trios were practicing their dances at the studio. Everyone wanted to stay for her party. I have to smile that my daughter has become like a little mascot for the studio. :)

This sounds like an excellent party, Mr. Appa. I hope your girl had a very happy birthday. (I'm thinking she did!)

I've never been to my mom's dance studio. I'm wondering why.

Nice party! :)

So is Lil' Bit her new, official nickname?

Since we call BackInTexas "BiT", that might be a little, ummm, confusing. :?

I have no doubt your charm, grace and intelligence would be too great a distraction for the serious business that would have to go on at the studio.

You know, "dance is their life" and that sort of thing.

No doubt like it is for you when you are deep into your opera research!

Actually, it was the first nickname that I gave her. (When she was a baby through maybe 2 years old. Then, when she fully entered the "princess" stage, she got a new nickname.) One of her middle names is Elizabeth for no other reason that I wanted a daughter that I could call "Lil Bit".

Recently, she asked me to call her Lil' Bit again. It really does fit her.

She's a little bit of everything, all rolled into one.

Well, if she asked to be called that, how can we say no? :)

Does she know about my little sister Elizabeth? We call her Lizbit. When I'm mad at her, I call her Lizzle Bizzle, but I don't think it would be nice to call your daughter that.

Sounds like she had a heckuva time. A belated Happy Birthday to her!

Kudos to the 15 year-old who ran the show. Keeping that many kids happy is no small achievement!
