Lyrically Speaking - 1/31/13

#1 Post by Gov Goodhair » Thu Jan 31, 2013 7:29 am

Good morning, my fellow Bored Buddies! As your governor, I have decided to declare that Thursdays shall now be known as Theme Thursdays! In honor of this momentous occasion in our history, I have prepared my very own LSWSE game for you all to enjoy! I have made sure that my theme is much easier for the common man to figure out, unlike that creepy weirdo who hosted yesterday, and come to think of it, I doubt that fella even has a green card.... if ever there was a case for tightening our borders, there it is! Now, if that isn't reason enough for you to all give me your vote in 2016, I don't know what is!

In closing, I would like to warn you all now: anyone making references to that weasel Blago's hair gets sent straight to The Chair. We still have that you know... unlike those commie, pinko little commonwealths out there....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme....

1. There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid wont you do it do it one time
There you go pulling me right back in, right back in, right back in
And I know I'm never letting this go

2. "The way I see it," he said
"You just can't win it...
Everybody's in it for their own gain
You can't please 'em all
There's always somebody calling you down

3. There's a boy I know, he's the one I dream of
Looks into my eyes, takes me to the clouds above
Ooh I lose control, can't seem to get enough
When I wake from dreaming, tell me is it really love

4. He just takes the tractor another round
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
He says Lord I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry

5. But we got it on together
In such a super way
We held each other close at night
And traded dreams each day

6. But parked in a rickety old garage
Is a brand new, shiny red Super Stock Dodge

7. Oh, put me to work in the school book store
Check out counter and I got bored
Teacher was lookin' for me all around
Two hours later you know where I was found

8. Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasies
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me

9. Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina
Wicked and evil while casting a spell
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden
I was in love, but in vain I could tell

10. No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
You're my experimental game
Just human nature

11. I still see her standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run

12. I remember when we first started
You came to me and you were broken hearted
I took you in and wiped all your tears away
I gave you lovin', more than any other gave

Theme?

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

5 Point Bonus: In the classic movie "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", when Pee Wee is on the phone with Dottie back home, what song does he get the locals to sing along to in order to prove where he is.

I'm on travel (over the weekend for pleasure and during the week for work), but I've found a few extra seconds during a very boring meeting to play a little LS!
Spoiler
1. Nope
2. Nope

8. Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler
9. El Paso - Marty Robbins

Fishie!!!!
Spoiler
I had the same thought for #3 and was trying hard to remember her last name (all I could remember was how she spelled her first name differently from my college roommate) and then the theme thing kicked in and I realized what song it was. I wouldn't have remembered Williams, though--I would have gone with my usual vague Deniece Somethingorother...

Theme? either artist or song has a city or town in the name. I can't narrow it down more than that. OK yes I can. The Paris of Joni's song is Paris, France, but for the purposes of your game, you war thinking of Paris, Texas.
Gotta be a burg in Texas for the purposes of this game.

And so my suggestion, especially since you need some SANCTIFICATION after posting a game as Gary Glitter:

AVE VERUM CORPUS CHRISTI - BROTHER ALPHONSUS MARY

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

5 Point Bonus: In the classic movie "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", when Pee Wee is on the phone with Dottie back home, what song does he get the locals to sing along to in order to prove where he is. deep in the heart of texas/

"The Little Old Lady From Pasadena" - Jan & Dean

7. Oh, put me to work in the school book store
Check out counter and I got bored
Teacher was lookin' for me all around
Two hours later you know where I was found

"Smokin' in the Boys' Room" - Brownsville Station or Motley Crue

8. Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasies
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me

9. Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina
Wicked and evil while casting a spell
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden
I was in love, but in vain I could tell

"El Paso" - Marty Robbins

10. No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
You're my experimental game
Just human nature

"I Kissed a Squirrel" - Katy Perry

It's been quite awhile since I watched the film. I know he went to the Alamo (looking for his bike in the basement), so I'll guess "The Yellow Rose of Texas".

Gov Goodhair

"How Will I Know?" - Whitney Houston

4. He just takes the tractor another round
And pulls the plow across the ground
And sends up another prayer
He says Lord I never complain I never ask why
But please don't let my dream run dry

5. But we got it on together
In such a super way
We held each other close at night
And traded dreams each day

6. But parked in a rickety old garage
Is a brand new, shiny red Super Stock Dodge

"The Little Old Lady From Pasadena" - Jan & Dean
