#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Tue Oct 16, 2012 9:10 pm

Mere said the contestant usually starts out the show in front of him, but they are announcing the contestant as a surprise this time because he is donating all of his winnings to a person in the audience who does not know.
Mere announced the contestant is Brandon Saunders fron New York, NY.
Brandon came down and announced that his grandmother "Gammy" is the audience member and the cause is her upcoming surgery
Mere asked how he kept it a secret and he said the producers were very helpful and he told an "intricate series of lies"
Mere asked "Gammy" and she is "shocked, elated" but not really surprised that her grandson would do something like that.

The ATA and the reaction to it has to make top 10 funniest moments of all time for the Meredith shows. A transcript can't do that moment justice. Someone could upload it to YouTube and round up some views for their account.

Brandon, I have to say that this is one of the best reasons I can imagine for being on the show.

Good for you on insisting on "fifty". I'd have to JTQ on this one.

Oh, Brandon, I thought you were going to be able to pull this one off, especially when you mentioned Rand McNally (although they are a map company, not a book publisher).

Well done! But I thought it was a fear of crossing bridges, so visiting the GGB wouldn't be a bad thing in and of itself.

Sorry you couldn't go further, Brandon, but you put on a good show. I'd have had to JTQ here (not being confident the audience would know it).

Thanks guys! Yeah the emilypost.com question I was maybe 75 % sure on, but I wasn't playing for myself, so I took ZERO chances. (Let's put it this way, if I got a 75% on a test, I'd be taking the longest way home possible; so that's not sure enough for me)
Also, sorry to nitpick but my mom's name is Brenetta (not Bernetta). It happens a lot but "Gammie" isn't a huge fan of people messing up her daughter's name haha.

Also, as a note, playing each other's games, I would've a a jump (and ATA) going into the 250K question during my dad's game; and my dad would've gotten to the 250K in my game (albeit without lifelines). Pretty funny stuff there but I think 96,200 is OK for the both of us so I won't complain too much (out loud).

My greatest regret during Jeopardy was me being too young (I tried out at 13, the minimum age and made it on at 14, making me the youngest person by a couple of years). I had told my parents a couple of years ago I was going to wait to at least 20 so I could win a nice amount. Unfortunately, Gammie's procedure came up so I decided it was no use waiting. Most likely those questions (ESPECIALLY THE BOURDAIN ONE, I WATCH THAT STINKING SHOW ALL THE TIME) would have been answered easily had this taken place even 6 months from now. Oh well.

As some guy from the audience shouted when I apologized to Meredith for correcting her on my mom's name, "Don't apologize, that's yo mom!"
In this town, don't we love it now, everbody's waiting for the next surprise!
