Sorry for the late notice, but I have created a team for us at Movies.Com. Feel free to join and make your Oscar picks. The information you'll need is as follows:

Party name: wwtbam

Good luck to all!

Sorry, I had to make sure I saw most (but not yet all) of the Best Pictures before I made my picks.

I still have "There Must Be Blood" to see...I could only sit through three today. With luck, I'll catch the early show tomorrow afternoon.

So far, I do have a clear favorite of the four I've seen....

I am in.

Sting says he will put himself in later (while we are watching golf).

I have little confidence that will happen.

Sting is in.

I only had to ask three times.

Not bad.

Congratulations to RJS!

I did pretty well seeing how I've seen just one film that was nominated for anything.

I was surprised at the Cotillard win, though I have not seen Julie Christie's performance to compare them. Cotillard was a strong second place much of the race, though, so it's not a compete surprise.

It helps with making Oscar picks to live in So Cal and read all the Oscar buzz in the LA Times and elsewhere. I did get lucky on some of the minor categories as well.

My head is held high. Anytime I can do as well as KT in movie related matters, I am happy.

Congratulations, RJS!

I second (or third, or fourth) those congratses.

I got absolutely slammed on the technicals and docs. I should have gone with my gut on "The Bourne Ultimatum" instead of reading and believing the hype on "Transformers".

I'm also pissed at myself for not going back to correct myself on Marion Cotilliard...I had her, then switched to Julie Christie when I figured there would be one "old school" award given, then changed my mind but never went back to fix it.

As for Tilda Swinton...well...I liked her work in Michael Clayton, but I liked Blanchett as Dylan more.

I'm happy for the Coens, and really, really liked "No Country for Old Men," but I still maintain that the best movie of the year wasn't nominated (again): "Zodiac" gets my vote. I think that if they'd delayed it till the end of the year, it would have been a major contender.

I did the same thing re:"Transformers". I remember thinking that "Bourne" got pretty good reviews and that this was going to be consolation prizes, but I went with "Transformers" instead. I did several flip-flops between Christie and Cotillard..they seem to love to reward those who portray famous folk well, but they also love actors playing characters with afflictions.

I really thought Blanchett was gonna take it. Supp. Actress category often contains the upset win of the night (Marisa Tomei, for example).
