Lyrically Speaking - 2/20/08

#1 Post by Mr Showtimeness » Wed Feb 20, 2008 7:14 am

Mr. Little Beast 13 was kind enough to allow me to host one of his LS games this season, but unfortunately, his notification got caught in my spam filter, so I didn't get around to sending him this game until just a few days ago. I probably sent this game to about 6,000,000,000 other email addresses at the same time, but no big deal. The more the merrier, right? And I didn't have to intentionally misspell any of the words in the subject line too, so that's all good!

Everybody loves spam! That's why pretty much everyone is on my e-mailing list. The following songs contain some of the exotic locations that some of my lovely spam may be coming to you from. But please, before you play today, please remit $500 to my Nigerian bank account or else you may forfeit any and all points you attain in today's game.

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and 1 point for each additional person you email this game to.....

1. Been away so long I hardly knew the place
Gee, it’s good to be back home
Leave it till tomorrow to unpack my case
Honey disconnect the phone

2. I stumble into town just like a sacred cow
Visions of swastikas in my head
Plans for everyone
It's in the whites of my eyes

3. I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation

4. Neon on my naked skin, passing silhouettes
Of strange illuminated mannequins
Shall I stay here at the zoo
Or should I go and change my point of view

5. I'll lay on a lilo till I'm lobster red
I still feel the motion here at home in bed
I tell you it's hard for me to stay away

6. Ain't nothin' like it, her shiny machine.
Got the feel for the wheel, keep the moving parts clean

7. It was 9:29...
9:29, back street, big city
The sun was going down
There was music all around
It felt so right

8. The ground at home was covered with snow. And I was covered in sweat.
My younger brother calls me a killer and My daddy calls me a vet

9. We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity

10. I got no kick against the west coast;
Warner Brothers are such good hosts.
I raise my whiskey glass and give them a toast,
I'm sure they know it's true.

11. It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city

12. Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

I wasn't even close. The B side is "I Should Have Told You Long Ago" which I don't even remember. I wish I had my stereo hooked up so I could play it.

Needless to say, I don't think this needs to be spoiled because who the hell knows that song anyway? Ha!

4. Neon on my naked skin, passing silhouettes
Of strange illuminated mannequins
Shall I stay here at the zoo
Or should I go and change my point of view
Big In Japan - Alphaville (TiV's perfect game was the only thing that salvaged this song from shutoutsville. This used to be played on VH1 Classic constantly back when I first started watching back in 2002, but I probably haven't seen the video in 3 years now...)

5. I'll lay on a lilo till I'm lobster red
I still feel the motion here at home in bed
I tell you it's hard for me to stay away
Montego Bay - Bobby Bloom

6. Ain't nothin' like it, her shiny machine.
Got the feel for the wheel, keep the moving parts clean
Panama - Van Halen

7. It was 9:29...
9:29, back street, big city
The sun was going down
There was music all around
It felt so right
Last Train To London - ELO

8. The ground at home was covered with snow. And I was covered in sweat.
My younger brother calls me a killer and My daddy calls me a vet
Still in Saigon - Charlie Daniels Band

9. We'll put out to sea and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy a little bit of gravity
Kokomo - Beach Boys

10. I got no kick against the west coast;
Warner Brothers are such good hosts.
I raise my whiskey glass and give them a toast,
I'm sure they know it's true.
Katmandu - Bob Seger

11. It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city
One Night in Bangkok - Murray Head

12. Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way
Istanbul (Not Constantinople) - They Might Be Giants or The Four Lads (And probably countless others, but not Rosemary Clooney....)
