No, not our resident grumbler - evidently there is both a musical group called "Marley's Ghost" (with its own Web site - http://www.marleysghost.com and 6 CDs available) and a book written by Mark Hazard Osmun. A synopsis of the book follows:
Before Scrooge, before Dickens, there was Jacob Marley. In Charles Dickens’s classic, A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge owes his salvation to one man: his former partner, the late Jacob Marley. Yet despite Marley’s crucial role we know him only as a shadow. Until now. Fugitive, prodigy, gambler, miner, corruptor and partner of Scrooge, Jacob Marley suffers a life in which he is both victim and villain, noble and vile. After his death, Marley’s ghost wanders a frozen hell seeking answers and redemption. There he plays one last role: that of a pawn in the battle between Light and Dark. Ultimately, Marley must choose between God and the Devil, between sacrifice and betrayal, as Mankind’s future hangs in the balance. Marley's Ghost, a dark tale about the winter of the soul, shines a brilliant, new light on Dickens’s immortal story.
Gotta love the Internet!

There's a difference? (Side note: do you realize how much conscious effort it takes for me now to spell that with an 'o' instead of an '0'?)earendel wrote:No, not our resident grumbler

I mentioned reading Mr. Osmun's book four or five years ago. He provides some interesting details to my character's background, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to accept those as canon.
And I have one of Marley's Ghost's CDs: Live at The Freight. They're pretty much a folk music group, which doesn't quite match my tastes, so I haven't bought any of the other CDs. It'd be interesting to catch one of their concerts some day, though.

I always knew Marley was deep.

While you're looking for references about me/him, there's also Tom Mula's book, Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol. I bought that from Amazon last year; sadly, I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
And now I see that Amazon lists a new book: Jacob Marley, A Ghost's Story by John Thomas. See what benefits a little web exposure can bring!
