Sabres vs. Penguins OUTDOORS Game in Buffalo Today

#1 Post by dimmzy » Tue Jan 01, 2008 12:28 pm

70,000 people are at Rich Stadium in steady snow to watch the Sabres play the Penguins in the first outdoor game in decades.

--dimmzy, who knows we Buffalonians are a hardy (and probably drinking and cold) bunch.

This is not the first outdoor game in decades, one was played in Edmonton in 2003.

When Anaheim or Florida schedules an outdoor game, let me know. That's one I'd pay to see.

The game looked great in HD. Crosby's move, shot, and reaction to winning the game in the shootout were a nice combo. It was hard to appreciate the outdoor elements everyone faced while I watched from a clear, dry and 55 degree city.

The Buffalo stations were doing a countdown all morning to game time - they were very excited. Apparently, the tailgate parties started at 8:00 this morning so I think that's why most of them were nice and toasty warm. We got over 15 cm of the white stuff overnight and this morning and as usual, Buffalo got more.

Dallas thanks Buffalo for two Super Bowls and a Stanley Cup in the '90s.

Loved the uni's on both teams, the Penguins in their 60's-70's baby blues, and the Sabres in their old blue/gold jerseys.

Hockey teams shouldn't wear black.

I remember the old Pens line of Shock-Shack-Schenkel wore those uni's.
Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Lurk i go!

They should thank blind officials for the Stanley Cup.

I take offense to that remark. At least us NFL guys aren't blind. We see what we want to see.
