Kiran: Hmmmmm. Wow! Gene, do you have any guesses?

Gene: I'm thinking "mega". If it's mega, it's huge.

Kiran: Right.

Gene: However, all four of these things are huge. "Lithic" means stone; I'm thinking it might either be Stonehenge or the Great Barrier Reef? So, I'm not quite sure.

Kiran: Well, all right, then we're making progress, because I think we can get rid of the Great Barrier Reef, because I think it's a natural formation, and for some reason megalithic makes me think it had to be built. So are you going with Stonehenge, because that would be my second guess.

Gene: Yeah, I think I'll do that. I thank you very much for your help and hope that we both have the right answer.

Criminy, the guy knows enough Greek to know that 'mega' is 'big' or 'great' or 'huge,' and that 'lithos' is 'stone,' so he makes the connection that something 'megalithic' must involve 'big stones,' and only one of the four items is stone, so he wastes his ATE on someone who doesn't know diddly about anything?

Of course, it probably doesn't matter anyway, since the Expert does NOT know diddly, it's not a waste to use it whenever you feel like it, but using ATE wouldn't do any good anywhere.

Although I bet Kiran probably did know the answer to the sushi question...

Jeez.
Innocent, naive and whimsical. And somewhat footloose and fancy-free.

Despite what you might think from the name, Gene doesn't have a Y chromosome, wintergreen.

When I took a German night class, my teacher told me a similar story. I bet half the German teachers in the country recycle the same anecdote!

Well, at least Kiran had something to add to the discussion, after she had Gene analyze the whole thing!

And she's a good "Stop the Damned Clock" lifeline.

I think she used the STC (Stop The Clock) lifeline here, that fact that you get that lifeline by using the ATE is just a side effect.

While Kiran doesn't exude a lot of confidence, her answers/inclinations have been correct 7 out of 8 times this week. Maybe it's lucky but I'd rather an expert like her than one who thought she knew more than she actually knows.

Or one that has absolutely no clue at all. :(

Her contribution has usually consisted of, "Gee, that's a tough one. What are your thoughts on this? Oh, really? Yeah, that sounds good to me."

LOL, that was almost her stock answer for every question. It was as though she had a teleprompter.

No clue. ATA.

A: John Lennon B: Elton John

No clue here, either. "Deported" seems to imply that the singer was living in the U.S. at the time, so I think I can eliminate Elton John because I don't think he started living in Atlanta until the 1990s. John Lennon seemed like the best guess, maybe because of the content of "Imagine" or his very public criticism of the Vietnam War. That's just how mind was working upon seeing this question. I would've stopped the clock (asked the expert). Giving Kiran time to blab about how she has no idea should give me enough time to build up some confidence on Lennon.
BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$15,000 * Sushi

That's it for me. I don't eat sushi. The only one of these four names I've heard of is unagi, but I'm not even tempted to let it ride on that. I don't have a second guess, so I'm leaving DD on the table and walking.
