Now you've done it LB!

#1 Post by christie1111 » Fri Mar 27, 2009 3:22 pm

I got my WG stamps today.

Marked 5 of them and then entered them for tomorrow's shopping.

Of course since I couldn't spend any of the ones I have received since ordring the stamps, I still have a lot to stamp and log in.

It gets worse....

Daughter1111 has started working at Subway and has been getting $3-4 a night in tips (yes, they get tips at Subway).

Tonight she asked if I would mind taking $20 in ones so she could have a twenty dollar bill.

I now have a lot more bills to stamp and enter.

I was giving up after 19 bills entered and no hits. Because I don't usually have cash and I have nowhere to spend it.

But remembering that I could start frequenting the dollar stores again revved up my mojo and I'm going to carry on.

It is easy but if you are OCD at all, it could be a problem.

MUST STAMP BILLS....

You buy the stamps but you can just write on them as well. Then it is free!

My goal is to have LB get a BB bill.

Now a Q just occured to me. Would it be just as special if one of us got an LB bill?

I used to manage a Schlotzsky's BITD and my opinion is if you're eating in (can you eat in at Subway?) and they bring you stuff or if you ask for something special on your order (eat in or take away), then a small gratuity should be considered.

I think it would be more special because we don't go out of our way to garner ones like he does.

I never eat in a Subway, I always take it to go. But of course they make my sandwich special, and Toby, my "Subway boyfriend", caters to all my quirky sandwich requests. He even knows what I like on the 3 or 4 standard sandwiches I order without me telling him. And now, after 3 years, I find out I should probably be tipping him...sigh...

I meant to say "could" be considered, not "should". However, if Toby caters to your wishes with some frequency, tossing a little something his way now and then wouldn't be out of line.

If you haven't tipped Toby up to now, you've trained him to expect nothing from you. Thus, if you start now, he'll think it's all the more special.

I always hoped one day I'd get a bunch of BB's involved in this!

Go to wheresgeorge.com and enter what bills you have. You can write the address on them in pen or marker for the time being until you order your stamps from this site....

It's fun and it's free, but it takes a LOT of patience in getting hits. But if you keep up with it, they will come! I have been doing it full time for 6 years now and have over 36,000 bills entered and 6800 hits..... including all 50 states and double digit foreign countries....

And it's the perfect hobby for hooligans who like living on the edge. Do it!

You are not a jerk.

I always put the coins in the tip jar. If my change is less than $2, I put the dollar bill and the coins in. If it's less than $3, I put the coins in; whether or not I also put the extra dollar depends on what the service was like, how well I know my server, and other factors, like how long it's been since payday . . .. 0f that seems arbitrary and capricious, well yes . . .

It doesn't improve my sammich, but it does get me a nice smile and friendly greeting.

When I give them my phone number at Great Clips, I wonder what comes up besides my name. I never get a shampoo because I almost always get my hair cut on the way to the gym, and she didn't even offer the other night. So I wonder if they put in how much you tip.

Okay, well my Subway doesn't have a tip jar! So it just never occurred to me, I guess.

I think my salon puts in how much we tip because they handle the tips centrally. And I tip well, but I tip the woman who waxes my eyebrows exceessively well and no matter when I call, I am squeezed in, and I chalk it up to the tipping. But it could also be because I've gone to her every 4 weeks for the last 5 years.

That would be fun Sunflower!

Well, I am now putting an 11:11 on the face so LB would know right away if it was mine. In red.

Yeah! We've sucked in a couple more! :D

I've been doing this for about 5 years, but I'm definitely a slacker when compared to LB. I've entered 7,119 bills, and have had hits on 871 of them. Several of my bills have more than one hit recorded, so my "total hits" count is 1028. I've always marked my bills by just writing on them, and that seems to get a good response. Maybe people are just curious about who/why.

I don't know if other state "Georgers" do this, but in Oklahoma there is a pretty active group of fans who get together quarterly to eat, chat, and trade bills. I went to my first meeting in January and had a ball. There were a couple folks from Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas there, too. The next meeting is April 28 in Tulsa, and I'm looking forward to attending.

Do the Georgers keep records? I mean, what is the longest time between a bill being posted and it's first hit? What is the soonest? The next day? The same day?

Are you kidding?!?! These OCD champs keep records of absolutely E-VE-RY thing imaginable! Many Georges never show up, and some can take many years. My fastest hit was just a few hours.

Come on, Uly . . . join the fun. Go to www.wheresgeorge.com and take a look . . .
