Aged to Perfection . . .

#1 Post by SportsFan68 » Tue Mar 10, 2009 4:22 pm

One of my young friends is throwing a birthday party for her hubby, who will turn 30 in about a month. The party will be at my house since I'm centrally located over about six counties and have a huge back yard for doggies. Her theme is aged to perfection, so of course wine and cheese will be served.

Any other suggestions for food/drink?

Aren't nasty bourbons and scotches better as they age?

Excellent suggestion!

We'll have some bourbon there anyway because that's what Uncle Steve drinks. I'll make sure we get some that's aged to perfection.

No Lafrigerator, though. Tribe won't be there. . .

There are certain types of beef that are aged - so I'd go for that - it's the expensive stuff
though. :) Otherwise, not much you can eat other than cheese and drink the wine that's
aged.

I'd go for the finger foods that can be made ahead and served without much fuss. I have
lots of ideas I can send you if you like.

Thanks, Kay, I'll let you know if Karyn needs more ideas. She's got a few standbys that her hubby is very fond of, so that's in the plan for now.

Foods aged to indicate that he's turning 30?

How about green bananas and Blatz beer (aged on the trip up 1-25)?
Push it real good!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

I have always wanted to try Virginia ham. I understand they're aged about 4-6 months, and are supposed to be very tasty, if you like ham.

I don't know anything else aged, but chocolate goes with wine and cheese! Make some truffles! I have a great and easy recipe if you want it.

No! Good grief! Your restraining order says you have to stay outside the state!

Besides, I think you value that mangy fur and would prefer to keep it intact -- there will be about six canines there, ranging in size from Casey (about 20 pounds) to Chadow (about 80 pounds). There would soon be no squirrel fur on the premises, mangy or not...

I think clem has the right idea.

If these young whippersnappers think 30 is "aged to perfection", you should serve them a bunch of kiddie meals.

Or maybe make the party into a "Logan's Run" theme.
