Nashvillian and Tennessee Army National Guardsmen John Heacock, a member of the military police (Unit 267 out of Dickson), will appear today and Friday on Who Wants to be a Millionaire with Meredith Vieira.
Since the show was taped, John has been deployed for a 13-month tour in Iraq, but he still made time to chat with The Tennessean, despite a nine-hour time difference and the call of duty.
Can the troops see syndicated shows via satellite in Iraq?
The fact that he was to be deployed only one week after the taping didn't deter his preparations for the trivia game show. After all, he had auditioned five times before being accepted as a contestant.
Good for him! I wonder if it was the written test or the interview which gave him trouble?
Hopefully, all the planning paid off, although John couldn't reveal how he did on the show. However, he did promise the producers that if he made it to the
$1 million question, he would get a giant tattoo of Meredith Vieira.
"I told them that the size and placement depended on how well I did, so if I missed the first question I would get a little tramp stamp on the back, maybe, but if I won the million, I would get a nice big one. I can't say exactly the size or location of the tattoo, but it comes up on the show."
I guess he found his interview hook.
