Listen to this forecast - Everybody Stay Safe Tomorrow!

#1 Post by bondguy007 » Sun Mar 01, 2009 9:05 am

Here is the current forecast for my area, courtesy NOAA.GOV:

Today: A chance of snow, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 35. North wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Tonight: Snow, mainly after 9pm. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 21. Blustery, with a north wind between 13 and 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Monday: Snow, mainly before noon. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 23. Blustery, with a north wind between 15 and 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

I'm all for a little snow, but 9 to 17 inches is a bit much, no? I can probably guarantee I'll have the day off tomorrow.

For everybody in the Northeast, stay safe!

Yeah, my forecast didn't separate it out between today and tomorrow, but it's similar. It's going to start between 7 - 9 pm tonight and we'll get 8 - 15 inches total, and finishing up the heaviest snow by 7 am tomorrow.

We're getting a little teaser right now, supposedly it will only amount to an inch (or less) and then we'll get a few hours off without snow before the major storm.

Fun, fun.

We're even forecast to get an inch or less, but it will still bum out the oldest who wants to see some snow since he's out of school anyway for Spring Break and will be in warm and sunny Hawaii when the event either happens or doesn't. In this area, we always bet on the snow passing us by...

The high yesterday was 72, so I don't see how the snow can even accumulate on the streets.
Of course, I'm not even gonna go out and see. Extended forecast is still showing the high on
Friday as 75. I made my big pot of chili yesterday, got the fire going now, so I'm ready. :D

That's what I'm going to be doing today. I'm waiting for the morning snow to stop, then I'm running out to do a couple errands and go to the grocery store, then I'm coming home, starting a fire and cooking...of course I'm sure the store is going to be a nightmare, I probably should've gone out early this morning.

We will have more than 8 inches of snow by tomorrow morning.

My driveway just had all of the ice that accumulated of late melt.

Next year, at this time, I will be living in Florida.

It's a pretty big coastal storm, but not exactly unheard of for the northeast.

Hunker down with some good books, DVDs and the Bored, and let the road crews do their work.

It's been snowing for the last hour here in Atlanta. This is the first time this winter we've had any noticeable snowfall and it's pretty big flakes coming down fairly heavily.

However, it's still above freezing and it's been warm all weekend so all we'll have by tonight is a lot of mush. We've got to drive to Mrs. SSS"s relatives for a get together this afternoon so I'll have to keep my eyes open to make sure none of my fellow motorists are too distracted by the flakes to keep their eyes on the road.

Wind chill here is now 21. The problem is the temps will be down in the 20's by tonight, so
the mush will freeze. Be careful, as they not only will be watching the snowflakes we never
see, they'll be sliding all over the place!!

We are supposed to get somewhere in the neighborhood of nine inches of snow.

Tomorrow was supposed to be my first day to walk up and down the street.

I think we will rethink that.

Our neighbor two doors down from TLAF will clean her steps and walkway. She says she's already put down a salt mixture on the steps.

God bless the jet stream. Or blocking high, I am not sure. One of the two.

Temperatures far, far below normal here, but the snow stays south of us. Most of it, anyhow.

maybe 4 cm in next 24 h.

Well, WE don't have ANY snow-unless you count the tiny piles left over from the 10 inches we had LAST weekend.

Our weatherman actually thinks it will be 50 degrees around here by Friday. Yahoo! Spring is coming!

Tomorrow is NOT the first day to walk up and down the street.

Just do a few more laps inside the house.

Good to know, thanks.

I am wavering between it wanting to start earlier, and hoping the roads will be clear in the morning...or later, and hoping that I get the day off. Most likely, it will start later, the roads will be a mess, and I'll still have to go in. It seems to be the way this winter! :?
