Golden Moldies
I dunno if this is a one-hit wonder or not; RadioDude seemed to think so, but this artist apparently got some airplay on some songs other than this one. It seems to have made it to #11 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1978, but I couldn't find it in my favorite lyrics site by either title or artist.
So these snippets are all you're gonna get today. Name the artist:
. Doing all right
A little jiving on a Saturday night
And come what may
Gonna dance the day away
Jenny was sweet . . .
. . .pick up your feet,
got to move to the trick of the beat,
there is no elite,
just take your place in the driver's seat
. . .

This song is a new one to me, and has a fine video posted on YouTube. The lead singer looks like he MIGHT be old enough to drive, although he was in fact 30, and an accomplished painter before and after his music gig.

This is Driver's Seat by Sniff n' the Tears. I remember it very well from one of those K-Tel compilation albums from the mid-70s. I believe the group is a true one-hit wonder, meaning that they had no other hit on the Hot 100. I will go and check the accuracy of that statement now, though.

OK, I validated that the group was indeed a one-hit wonder, although their guitarist apparently had a very minor hit in 1983. The song hit #15 in 1979.

Yay, Fishie!!!
Good job!
Dunno if I'm unlucky or lucky that I never heard of K-tel. Somehow I think the latter. . .

Good job, Doc. I saw that too but was afraid to click on it and watch for fear of 10,000 invading viruses. Maybe I underestimate both YouTube and the power of my company's firewall, hope so.etaoin22 wrote:This song is a new one to me, and has a fine video posted on YouTube. This song is used for a Kia dealer's commercial around these parts. They were lumped into the New Wave category, but this song is pretty much pop in sound. I never really considered it Wave. Not a bad tune, though.SportsFan68 wrote:Good job, Doc. I saw that too but was afraid to click on it and watch for fear of 10,000 invading viruses.
