Melancholy day for Boston sports fans

#1 Post by gsabc » Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:00 am

Gil Santos, long-time sports director for WBZ radio and their morning sports voice, is retiring today. If you've listened to the New England Patriots radio broadcasts, you've heard him. If you've seen the nfl.com ad with the cgi-constructed stadium, that's him doing the play-by-play of a field goal attempt. If you're a long-time Boston College or Boston Celtics fan, you've heard him doing play-by-play for them, too. Great radio voice, great play-by-play announcer, great commentator on the sports scene in general, not just Boston's.

He'll still be doing the Patriots games, but he has been a large part of my mornings since forever. I'll miss him.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.
