top o' the mornin'®

#1 Post by earendel » Mon Jan 26, 2009 7:04 am

Another busy weekend, particularly Saturday evening and all day Sunday. Our church (as most Southern Baptist churches do), has an annual Bible study in January (called, appropriately enough, January Bible Study). Our church invited back a former pastor, Paul Duke (the one who was there when elwing and I joined) for a study of the parables. There were sessions Saturday and Sunday night as well as regular worship on Sunday morning and a study during the Bible study hour also. He suffered a stroke a few years ago and lost the ability to read, but he's recovered all of his faculties and is as eloquent and learned as he was 25 years ago. Our "Sunday lunch bunch" also had a potluck lunch yesterday afternoon in order to watch the University of Louisville basketball team defeat Syracuse (sorry, Buff), and also took the whole family out to celebrate two of our sons' birthdays (both born on January 21st, 10 years apart).
"Elen sila lumenn omentielvo...A star shines on the hour of our meeting."
