I was watching some clips of him on the news and told Lady G that I thought this guy looked like a shoe salesman. He is going to be the head of the CIA? Maybe he can come up with a shoe-phone ala Agent 86.

Panetta is honest, but I question just how much expertise he has in security/intelligence matters that would allow him to effectively monitor the operations of the CIA. Also, it remains to be seen just what Obama's actual approach to intelligence gathering is going to be (he has stated he intends to stop waterboarding and close Gitmo). By their very nature, CIA operations and tactics are not subject to intense public scrutiny, so it could take us a long time to see what is and is not going on. It will be a lot easier to determine if and when Gitmo closes.
