Selected by PM Stephen Harper as one of 18 new members of the (appointive) Upper House. The political reasons for this are not worth going over here, but....

What is, is that Ms. Wallin was the host of the two Canadian-produced episodes of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire, back in 2000. ( My one and only chance to play a phone game, for real, but, of course, I did not make the cut to go further.)

Ms. Wallin got mixed reviews, and the show got nixed, never to return.

In the course of my googling her bio before posting, a hilarious criticism of Ms Wallin being chosen as Millionaire host surfaces, (from July of 2000).

In Deleware, they're picking some guy to be a caretaker Senator until Biden's son returns from Iraq to run for the seat in 2010.

Now if Gov. Patterson decides to do the same thing and appoint a caretaker in New York, I've got just the right person:
