Heroes thread

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 8:37 pm

Hmmmmm. I think there may have been more than the usual number of deus ex machina last night. (What is the plural of that phrase, anyway?)

Well, I'm still looking forward to the next volume. --Bob

He had the powers of the African seer. I can't figure out how he was able to go back in time. --Bob

So, what did we learn in this volume?

Sylar is a psychotic, murderous SOB. Nope, already knew that.

Nathan is a power-hungry SOB at his core. Nope, knew that, too.

Peter is a soft-hearted idiot at his core. Not news.

HRG loves Claire and his family but is still an agent and killer at his core. Still not news.

So, what did we really learn in this volume? Darn little.

Hiro is still sans power, correct? Wanna bet Ando ends up giving him a supercharged jump-start?

It's a bit hard to suspend disbelief that the press isn't all over Nathan's absences from his Senate job. Or that the regular employees at Pinehurst aren't wondering about the secret crap in their labs (they must have some sort of public face for the local community!). Or how an injectable serum of any sort can be highly flammable (no wonder it hurts!).

Now they're having online only episodes that will link directly to the continuity, such as it is, of the network broadcasts? Gee thanks. I'll be sure to watch them in my copious amounts of discretionary time. The house doesn't need cleaning, anyway.

I'll still watch, I suppose, just to see how they manage to tie up all the threads, but it's wearing thin.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Seems like the next volume will be returning to the dark future of volume 2, when the government was hunting down everyone with powers. That one was with Sylar disguised as President Nathan Petrelli, but now we'll get the same thing with (finally back in Washington) Senator Petrelli.

We didnt' see anything specific about avoiding the explosion of the whole Earth, but I think we now know how that might come about. When Peter or Sylar exploded in alternate timelines, they just took out a city. But now that Ando can supercharge someone's powers, suppose he supercharged one of those explosions?
