Lyrically Speaking - Day 21 (the last) 12/7/08

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:27 am

Well, here we are. The last of the November/December LS games. I really hope you all had as much fun as I did, whether you played by posting or just opened up the games and played at home.

I had planned on making this kind of a "how much attention were you paying to MY musical tastes" game to wrap it all up, by asking all the songs I'd tagged as my personal favorites, but halfway through the cycle I kept forgetting to mention it, so....well.....never mind. Instead, here are some songs from movies. Not necessarily musicals, mind you (although some are), but iconic songs from movies. You'll get one point each for artist and title, and one for telling me which movie the song is BEST identified with. And for the record, I'm looking for the artist who sang the version that is identified with the movie, so cover versions may not fit, although, where appropriate, I WILL accept the character. Since some songs were used in more than one movie, I'll even give you the year the movie I'm thinking of came out.

The game will remain open until TUESDAY at noon, Eastern. Thanks again for playing!

1. From 1946:
(SONG TITLE) won't you come out tonight,
Come out tonight, come out tonight
(SONG TITLE) won't you come out tonight
And dance by the light of the moon?

2. From 1975:
Wasn't it yesterday
We used to laugh at the wind behind us?
Didn't we run away and hope
That time wouldn't try to find us (didn't we run)?

3. From 1979:
Please, don't let this feeling end
It's everything I am
Everything I wanna be
I can see what's mine now
Finding out what's true

4. From 1980:
Home, don't it seem so far away
Oh, we're travelling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm

5. From 2006:
I'm not livin' without you
I don't wanna be free
I'm stayin', I'm stayin'
And you, and you, you're gonna love me

6. From 1977:
There are stories old and true
Of people so in love like you and me
And I can see myself
Let history repeat itself

7. From 1969:
I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under

8. From 1974:
Stage door Johnnies always surround me
They always hound me with one request
Who can satisfy their lustful habits?
I'm not a rabbit!
I need some rest!

9. From 1989:
Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
It's possible she wants you, too
There is one way to ask her

10. From 1967:
A friend who taught me right from wrong
And weak from strong
That's a lot to learn
What, what can I give you in return?

11. From 1992:
Well, you started out with nothing
And you're proud that you're a self-made man
And your friends they all come crawlin'
Slap you on the back and say, "Pleeeeeeeeease"

12. From 1956:
When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart, "What lies ahead?
Will we have rainbows, day after day?"
Here's what my sweetheart said
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.
