What are you thankful for?
Me, I'm still thankful that I had my mom around the first 53 years of my life.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

Re: What are you thankful for?
I am, of course, thankful to God for my wife and my children, our health, the fact that we are able to provide for ourselves.
I am also thankful for all the difficult times, the trials and the tribulations, the times when I felt crushed or weak or alone. I had to go through all those dark times to get to where I am now and to become the person I have become.

Praise You in This Storm
(by Casting Crowns)
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

Re: What are you thankful for?
That my mom's still around (90 next March).
That my kids are healthy and doing well (BD is homesick; this will be her first Thanksgiving away from the usual family get-together
).
That we're reasonably healthy and doing well.
That our investments aren't doing worse than the market average and that we still have some years to make up the paper losses.
That our employers are doing well enough that there's no reason to think about layoffs or bankruptcies.
There are many other items. Sure I bitch sometimes, but I'm also aware that we're better off than many other folks. I will be starting on my year-end list of charitable donations this weekend. I donate at other times, too, but this is the big list.

I'm grateful for a wonderfully supportive family. Tomorrow is Mom's 77th birthday, and she is definitely the coolest woman in Leisure Village. (She has recommended movies like Boogie Nights and Requiem for a Dream to me.)
I'm grateful for 29 years of marriage, and counting.
I'm grateful for my church, especially the choir and the kids in the Youth Group.
I'm grateful for having a job that fulfills me and that matters in the world.
I'm grateful that my career as a playwright has started to take off in a big way, and I'm grateful to everyone who has played a part in that.
I'm grateful for the Scrabble community and the BAM community, the number of friends I've made in each -- and for one friend in particular who bridges both communities and who has made a big difference in my life.
That's a lot!

Re: What are you thankful for?
I am thankful that I live in a country where I am able to freely pursue my ambitions (for now, at least).
I am thankful that Lady G and I are in relatively good health.
I am thankful that my mom, who is now of 81 years and failing memory, keep me chuckling every day because of her failing memory (see the movie Groundhog Day).
I am thankful for all the wonderful folks I have met via this venue.
I am thankful that we won't have GWB to kick around anymore.
I am thankful that, despite this country's economic woes, my business has not suffered at all.
There is much more to be thankful for, but these come immediately to mind.

Re: What are you thankful for?
Family. Family. Family.
Absolutely wonderful life partner, five years so far of happy marriage, son who brings more joy every day.
Extended family all over NJ that I'm excited to see next month.
Tolerable in-laws
Being in a situation where a job losses causes some worries, but no immediate catastrophes.
A great group of friends.
Health.
Did I mention family?

1. For Jesus dying for my sins.
2. For my husband who is an absolute fox.
3. For Madeleine.
4. For Samantha.
5. For Olivia.
6. For parents who gave me life.
7. For inlaws that gave David life.
8. For God helping me discover a talent that I never knew I had in me until I was 30.
9. For the choir and all of the godly men and women I get to stand with and sing praises to the Lord on Sunday mornings.
10. For my husband not only having a job but having a good one that he enjoys going to every day.
11. For having the privilege of staying home with my children.

Re: What are you thankful for?
I know I'm a bit late but it's still Thanksgiving and I had some time at my parents' house today to think about what I'm really thankful for, especially this past year which has been the best of my young life....
-I'm thankful for my wonderful, happy, angelic niece who has had the bonus effect of bringing our family just a bit closer together.
-I'm thankful for the fact that my mom criticized me today because I'm unshaven...some things never change
-I'm thankful for my dad who grinned and smacked my cheek after my mom said this
-I'm thankful for my siblings who always seem to join me in regressing 10 years whenever we get together
-I'm thankful for who I am. If I didn't have an overcompetitive, angry side to me I never would've gone back the next day after I failed the Millionaire test
-I'm thankful, while we're on the topic, for the chance to live out one of my dreams on Millionaire and being able to meet so many wonderful and interesting people there
-I'm thankful for the few months I had with the first girl I ever really liked, however short they were
-I'm thankful for my friends who keep me sane every day; a monumental feat
-I'm thankful for being able to get up every day, for jogging in the rain, for fresh ice to skate on, for catching the bus right before it leaves, for a thick cover on a cold night, for all those little things that we notice so little but matter so very much
-And I'm thankful for you guys. All of you. You are the best thing that this whole millionaire experience has brought me. And I'd say the same thing whether I won nothing or the million.
Happy Thanksgiving Y'all
