QBPPC - We have a winner.
Take a bow, ToLiveistoFly.
The scoring was, due to the collective intelligence of the Board, pretty straightforward.
As I mentioned, every entrant who picked Obama to win picked 22 states, all of which Obama carried. He carried six other states (Florida*, Indiana*, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio*, Virginia). Two states, Missouri* and North Carolina*, remain in doubt according to the official rules because the NY Times have not called them. (* denotes Daily Double state) But, even though the competition is very tight - the runners up are very close behind- TListoF's total will hold up, regardless of the outcome.
TListoF picked every state Obama carried, plus Missouri and North Carolina, and got the 3 point bonus for early entry. The entrant with the closest total, Nellylunatic, got the 3 point bonus, picked Missouri, North Carolina and every state Obama carried...execept for Indiana. Bob#s got the 3 point bounus, picked every state Obama carried, MO, NC, and...Montana and North Dakota, which, because Indiana is a DD state, ties him for second.
Pea picked the Big 22, all the DD states, Nevada and...Idaho.
Fish picked the Big 22, FL, NV, NC, OH and MN.
Timterino picked the Big 22, FL, MN, MO, NV, NC, OH, SD, VA and...Idaho.
Skoop picked the Big 22, NV, MN, VA, NC and OH.
Frog picked all the states Obama carried, GA, MO, NC, ND, WV.
Bob J picked the Big 22, AZ, FL, MO, NV, NC, OH, SC, VA.
WBTravis picked all the states Obama carried, AZ, GA, MO, MT, NC, ND.
Badozee picked the Big 22, NV, MT, MN, MO, FL, NC, VA, ND.
DadofTwins picked the Big 22, MN and VA.
Cal picked the Big 22 and MN.
BDM picked the Big 22, FL, IN, MN, MO, NV, VA, WY.
Eyegor picked the Big 22, MN and VA.
Etaoin picked every state in the US except UT, TX and AK.
Daniel and PSM picked McCain. Daniel picked 5 states McC didn't carry, PSM picked 8.
And, as noted before, every entrant predicted the winnner would carry Pennsylvania.
Thanks and congrats to all entrants.
ToLiveistoFly, PM your mailing address to me so I can send you your fabulous prize, a copy of "Double-Take! A Christmas Pageant by Matthew and Luke" autographed by the author (that would be me), with the extra bonus of two pages the publisher forgot to include.
The rest of you, well, as soon as the Lee Press-On Nails arrive, I'll hand them out.

Hey Nitrah, I'm sorry I didn't enter your contest, but other than
voting, I more or less ignored the election!
However, I would love to purchase one of your autographed books. Is that
a possibility?
Thanks!
Kay

Thanks for asking.
I don't have much on hand (the publisher only sends me a very few freebies).
But, we can still do this. Go to cokesbury.com and type "hartin" for the search. A page will open with all four pageants, and other stuff that I have nothing to do with. See which pageant you like best, tell me which one you like, PM me your address, and I'l sign it and send it along to you. If you can live without the autograph, you could order it direct. They seem to be having a sale- something I find distreessing, royalty-wise.
Let me know. Thanks again.
I am about 25% sure of this.

Re: QBPPC - We have a winner.
Ok, this is silly, but I picked McCain because I usually spectacularly lose this type of contest, which would mean that by picking him he would lose the election. If I had picked Obama, he might have lost.
But don't blame me for McCain's loss, blame Rexer.

Wow. Thanks. I feel a little bit like I cheated. I just went to fivethirtyeight.com and picked every state Obama was ahead in on that day. Thanks, Nate.
And maybe the canvassing in Colorado helped too. I expect the members of the Board are too mature for this, but if anyone on the board resents me for doing it, you can take comfort in the fact that I have quarter-size blisters on the soles of both feet and I walk like an 80-year-old man right now.

Resent? Hardly. I have the greatest respect for you, Sprots, and others who may have done more than I know for putting your time, effort, and feet at the service of your convictions.ToLiveIsToFly wrote:

Confused
I posted a reply to the original thread. It shows up there but not when using the link in the reference thread.
Wouldn't predictors who picked Obama to carry Missouri lose 4 points if McCain won there? Doesn't starfish win in that case??
