QBPPC Early Returns

Thanks to everyone who entered. It's fun to do something about politics that isn't strictly speaking political.

I can't coronate a winner officially yet, because the NY Times (the authority, according to my official rules) hasn't yet called a winner in Indiana, Missouri or North Carolina. Once that happens, I will confirm and re-check my math.

I reported earlier that all of the people who picked Obama all picked 22 states in common. Obama carried all of those states. Congrats to everyone for good collective prognostication.

Obama also carried these states which were not selected by everyone: Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia. Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina remain officially in doubt.

I take a certain glee that all five of my Daily Double states (Florida, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio) were among those not selected by everyone, and that three of them remain in doubt this morning. Makes me feel like I picked tossups well. I also take some glee because my unoffical, incomplete, tally suggests that the margin of victory will be one point, and that point will be due to the correct pick of a daily double state.

Pending the official declaration of a winner- likely tomorrow, I do want to give unofficial kudos to Starfish, who came within 101.60 points of predicting the Dow Jones Industial Average at close yesterday (without going over!).
I am about 25% sure of this.

I believe I was about 30 points off in my DJI prediction.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

True, but you guessed high, and we're using TPIR rules.

On the other hand, you picked every state that Obama carried correctly. Unfortunately, you also picked at least two that he didn't and that, to use the technical term, will likely screw the pooch.
I am about 25% sure of this.
