Big Game Tonight

#1 Post by lilclyde54 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 3:55 pm

Well, tonight is the Meridian/Oak Grove game. This is the game that was one of the 15 in Mississippi that made the book (Y'all vs Us written about some of the best high school football rivalries in MS. I mentioned it when they interviewed me last spring for it. They are ranked #4 in the state and we are ranked #5. The two teams bring a combined record of 11-1 (we lost to #2 in the state 3 weeks ago). Oak Grove scores just over 35 points a game and we score just over 34 a game. There should be plenty of excitement tonight. This game has always been real intense but this is the first time we've played since the book came out so if it was possible to ratchet things up a notch, the book might have done it. Our stadium seat a little over 15,000 and they are expecting pretty close to a sellout. We will top 10,000 people with no problem. It is the biggest game in the state tonight.

I just hope my voice holds out. I have been trying to shake a lingering upper respiratory bug for almost 2 weeks. I am over everything but a persistent cough. I don't even have the cough unless I talk a lot. Unfortunately, public address announcers have to do a good bit of talking. I am hoping for the best.
