If we see a bot on the users list, could you terminate it with extreme prejudice? Woould you even want to be bothered?
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!
That'll be $10, please.

Banning bots is something I leave to the real experts, since they're not offering us Nigerian penis spam or any additional showtimeness....

If a bot comes on the Bored and shows up in the listing, it is most likely benign. There are 50 pre-made bot ID's that came with this version of the Bored software, and they are mostly indexing bots for search engines. According to the documentation for phpBB 3, because these bots "rarely make proper use of sessions they can distort visitor counts, increase load and sometimes fail to index sites correctly." Defining them as identifiable (though very restricted) users helps alleviate some of these problems.Rexer25 wrote:If we see a bot on the users list, could you terminate it with extreme prejudice? They are locked out of being able to access, add to or change anything on the Bored. They can just read it, which is all a search engine bot needs to be able to do anyway.
So, long story short, nothing to worry about there.
