The Mortgage Mess Explained

#1 Post by wintergreen48 » Wed Oct 01, 2008 9:54 am

This opens as a powerpoint slide deck that explains the mortgage crisis, how it happened, etc. Somewhat technical in nature, but the folks here are smart enough to figure it all out.

Removing the link, because it doesn't work and I cannot figure out how to make it work. But it was pretty cool. Probably show up on You Tube at some point.

I thought it was decided it was Rexer's fault?

The website is blocked here at work, dang it. Of course, they block way too much. I can't even check my Yahoo mail here. I guess I'm lucky I can get to this bored.

Can't see it. Maybe I have to be a member. I don't want to join if they have people like me in there.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Clicking the link opens up my home e-mail account. Useful, but not very informative about the mortgage crisis.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Perhaps that's the Zen of it all and that no one really knows.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Apparently, Rexer's fault.

Is it the one with the line about the "frigid Norwegian ass" in it? I got that one from my sister and was wondering how on Earth I could share it!

Coincidentally, I was in your neck of the woods with her just before she sent it to me--Short Pump is turning into a happenin' place. Who'da thunk?!

Yes, that's the link I was trying to do.

When we moved here, 'Short Pump' consisted of Wal-Mart (which had just opened, and it didn't have the grocery section) and a guy with a tree limb transmission shop. The times they are 'a changin'.

My cousins were coming down from Fredericksburg and we wanted a halfway spot to meet, but we offered to go a bit more than halfway because they had infant twins and a 2 year old in tow, and I only had Erin who can travel like a pro. My sister mentioned "an outdoor mall in Short Pump" and I envisioned a strip mall with check-cashing services, and instead found a place reminiscent of Trolley Square in SLC, that had a Nordstrom's fercryinoutloud!

Verra nice....

Ok, found it!

I looked at it yesterday, but I didn't think that this one would be the one that Sir WG would share. LOL Mini's comment about the Norwegian proved me wrong!

I don't know what's funnier, the slide show or the get-rich-quick ads at the top. There really is one born every minute (or millisecond, lately).
