I just figured out something that could change a lot about the final solution, without changing much of what has been done so far. :)

I initially threw out Melly's guess of NANA for Zola, thinking that slam was a much better fit for Martina Navratilova. But now it occurs to me that Hoyle could be a fit for slam, given his background with bridge, CARD could go with Helen Steiner Rice, and NANA for Zola.
