I've never heard of those either. That isn't ringing a bell with me. I only remember my grandma's fudge she used to make when I was in preschool..... someone brought in real fudge the first year I worked at Mecca, and it was way to sweet for me to eat.....

Yes - in VT the general store (it might have a fancier name than that but general store is in the name) - I went there last year when I was in VT, it was awesome!! If anyone needs anything there let me know as I will be there in September. They have lots of old time food products, and old toys too!!! But the reason I stop there is it's mid-way-ish to my meeting location and they have a phenomenal food sample selection, so I get a free snack...but I always buy a soda since they have diet coke in glass bottles and other fun old time soda.Lackadaisical Stumblebum wrote:We were talking about Danish-go-Rounds a while back, when everybody thought I was just making them up until I came up with evidence.Hotseat Or Bust! wrote:That reminds me...I'm not sure if it was in chat, on the bored, or pehaps in my imagination...but didn't someone post a link a while back, to a site where one could purchase various food products of the past, or difficult to find items?

Yeah, let me know...I make a planned stop there anyway, so it's not a problem at all. And flat rate boxes make shipping cheap!!! I'll be there 9/9 - 9/12. And if you really needed something sooner, I'd take a drive up there for you, I think it's only about 2 hours from my house to the store. And Yankee Candle is on the way so it would be a bonus.Lackadaisical Stumblebum wrote:Damn, I totally forgot that you and hottie were actually close to Vermont! The Vermont General Store...or whatever it's called, do they have a small black and white catalogue? If so, I actually have ordered from them in the past. I used to be addicted to those brown sugar candies that are in the shape of a maple leaf.

Dammit, I wasn't sure about "general" store, so I didn't specify in my first post about it and then when you said general that was good enough for me, so I concurred.sunflower wrote:This is the one I'm talking about...

Yes, it is. As soon as I saw "country" in your link, I knew that Country was right, not General (although, like you, my first thought was General).sunflower wrote:I call it the General Store!! Yep, that's the one! They have the maple leaf candies. They also carry Dr. Scholl's, and I had ordered a pair of those from them a while back as well. Browsing their site makes me want to go there! We'll definitely put it on the list for when Fanny comes to CT.! I know, I know, it may not be THIS year.sunflower wrote:This is the one I'm talking about...

When we go to the Vermont Quilt Festival there are stores along the way that are must stop at places.
The Vermont Country Store is a given as is King Arthur Flour. Basketville is often stopped at and coming back it is Candles for sure!
As long as there is still room in the car after buying all the fabric at the Quilt Festival.
