Jeemie says re pivot tables in Excel:
Sorry...that is not they are.

They are tables to let you do quick cross tabulations and summaries of flat data files.

They're called pivot tables because they allow you to "pivot" you flat data into 2D tables.

The closest thing I can think of to describe what you were saying is the TRANSPOSE function, which allows you to transpose column data into row data.
Then what someone showed me was the Transpose function, but they called it a pivot table thingie.

I'm not going to argue about Microsoft stuff I don't use.

I wasn't arguing...I just waned to clarify.

Tests were just time-consuming and PITAs. Both at Normal User level (is there an Abnormal User level? :) ). Got 93% (28/30) on both, but missed a basic Word question by forgetting to click on the clipboard in <right-click> Paste Options. I wasn't allowed to use keyboard shortcuts, and had to remember or hunt down the menu version. I mean, who bothers with <right-click> Cut or Paste when there's Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V? And Ctrl-X for delete, Ctrl-Z for Undo, etc. All four of those were questions.

There were two PivotTable questions, one right after the other and related. Having found some terrific YouTube tutorials from CSU Fullerton, neither was a problem. Not that I'm likely to use PivotTables any more now than before.

Still don't know why I had to bother with these. It's not like I'm claiming to be an expert in MS Office programs. I'd have called Normal User level "proficient", but YMMV. I get by.

So now I've done all I can. Decision is supposed to be made "early next week". Fingers will be crossed until then, which makes typing difficult.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I am amazed we get any teachers to apply for jobs any more, with all the bureaucratic hurdles they have placed in front of them these days. Congrats on making it this far. I'll be pulling for you.

Pivot tables are awesome; I use them virtually every day.

I'm pretty sure what ghost was talking about are pivot charts, which are closely related to pivot tables. I have rarely used them and I doubt I ever will.

In those immortal words of Baby Sinclair, "Again!"

Not sure if this is good, bad or just is. Got called in for one more interview, this time with the CFO. He may have been the "other" whom they said might meet with me the last time. I'm hoping that's all it is, and isn't because they still have some reservations about me. I plan to be as enthusiastic and peppy as I can get. I really do like the company and its business, so I won't need to fake that part. Always be sincere, even if you don't mean it. :)

Scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4 PM. Not looking forward to being in a suit in ninety-degree weather. Hope I can find a closer parking spot than I've managed the other times. Now if I can only get rid of the knot in my stomach ...

Okay, NOW I've done all I can. CFO interview completed and thank you message sent. Also beer consumed. Five weeks, two phone interviews and three in-person interviews later, I take deep calming breaths and wait. The decision is supposed to be made soon. We shall see. <Frank Bartles>And thank you for your support.</Frank Bartles>

Seriously, I do appreciate the thoughts, vibes and whatever else has been sent out, not just now or just for me but all of it through the years. It's been nearly five years since I taped for WWTBAM, and ten years before that since I joined the Bored in its Go incarnation. I love this place, and all of you as its component parts. I have no intention of disappearing any time soon. You have been warned. :)
