It won't let you cut in line, but if you post a compelling story, or if lots of your FB friends Like your post, it will catch the eye of the staff and make you stand out even before you arrive. (Think of Chad's road trip to the Chicago audition in 2011.)
They've now created FB events for Denver and Foxwoods too.

Here's publicity for the Apollo Theater auditions.

http://blog.silive.com/inside_out_colum ... aires.html
Staten Island locals won't want to miss a chance "to laugh all the way to the bank" this season on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" with new host Cedric "The Entertainer," when producers from the hit game show will conduct local contestant auditions on Tuesday, July 16 at Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027) with a special visit that day by Cedric "The Entertainer!"
Aside from the "special visit," I don't see why the Apollo Theater auditions are any different for Staten Islanders than all the other auditions in Manhattan.

For those of you who went to Las Vegas for the auditions, how many people showed up if you can estimate? Do they hold it at a hotel because there are 1000's that show up? Bob ####'s said he got to skip the first interview. Has this ever happened to anyone else? If you audition in New York do you get the same road audition AP's?

They were willing to take as many as 200 at a time and offered 6 testing sessions for the regular test (plus another for the movie test). Although I'm not sure, because I hadn't arrived yet, I believe that everyone in line for the 7:00 a.m. session got in by the 8:00 a.m. session, and after that they had plenty of space. They certainly had unused capacity for the 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. sessions. --Bob

I showed up after work for the 6 PM session (#5 of the day I suppose?) and was actually planning on getting a bite to eat with my dad and then taking the movie test at 7PM. I'm glad I asked them if I was still in the pool or not. (Turns out, I was flushed, I learned after chatting up Geoff, the supervising producer, for a few minutes while they were getting ready to herd everyone else in for the 6PM session. He encouraged me to stay for the general test they were about to administer, so of course I wasn't going to leave and come back at this point. Plus, the AP who eventually interviewed me said that you have a 95% better shot at getting on the show in the general pool (nothing we didn't already know, but just an interesting side note..)

I sat in the front row for my test session, but I did look around a bit and would estimate that there were probably no more than maybe 100-120 trying out at 6PM. I could be way off, but my WAG would be that anywhere from 750-1000 people in Vegas were probably seen throughout the day. The number of passers was still very low from my group. Only about ten numbers were called that I can remember. I honestly wasn't even expecting to pass again but my number was called.. I think 7th or 8th..

There was definitely a bigger crowd for the 7pm test, about twice as many as the 6pm. I don't know if they only gave the Movie Week test or both, as in years past. I couldn't take the Movie Test because we were told to go interview immediately after we passed and the process was very quick. While waiting for my "speed-date" with my bubbly AP, Sam I was dumbfounded that one of these very passers waiting with me to be interviewed (the gal whom I became buddies with next to me when taking the test) shot up suddenly and announced "I'm gonna go take it!" (meaning the Movie Week Test) and basically just abandoned her pre-personality interview (and best shot to let an AP get to know her) .. :o !  (facepalm).. .. But hey I wasn't gonna stop her!

Encouraging results on the Audition Thread! Looks like a Bored all-stars season awaits!
Good luck to all, as usual! :D

Bob, it was really a pleasure meeting you face to face in Vegas. Let's catch up at the Millionaire green room hopefully soon!!

I noticed they also asked us if we were in college at my audition. Probably doing a college week... (Yay me also for being in college now lol)

Thanks for answering my questions. I always thought Las Vegas would beat Chicago with the number of auditioners because so many people are on vacation in Vegas.

No problem. I had a blast at my audition. I just try to have fun with them. This was my third try-out here in Vegas. I also tried out once (but completely bombed the quiz) in NYC too when I lived in Massachusetts back in 2006.

Here's publicity for Detroit.

And there's one line of publicity for Charlotte, buried in the middle of this column. They don't even get their own paragraph break!

Studio audience tickets (including an audition, of course), are now available at millionairetv.com. The first taping date is Friday, August 16 (though the first date is often a dress rehearsal). Tapings will be at the new 106th Street studio.

If you already auditioned and got a :D card, contestant calls will probably start in early August. Good luck!

Plus, tweet from the “Millionaire” Contestant Search & we might feature it here on CBSDetroit.com! Use hashtag #CBS62Casting.
Not hashtag #WhatElse? :P

Here's a report from Charlotte. "Hundreds" auditioned there, too, including one repeat auditioner.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2013/0 ... naire.html
For (Paul) Reilly, the selection process was familiar. He’s auditioned for the show eight times – four times in Charlotte, the rest in places across the country such as Texas and Oklahoma.
Four times in Charlotte, alone! Not bad, for a road auditioner. He's got an audition hook that should have already won him a spot, too. I wonder why it didn't.
Reilly, the Mooresville fan, was first introduced to the show when his brother-in-law was a contestant when the show debuted. He met his wife, Suzette, at a trivia get-together to train his friend for the show.

The couple married in 2002 and inscribed “Final Answer,” a term related to the show, on their wedding rings.
What more do you want, TPTB? Or was it a problem because Meredith shortened the "Final Answer" to "Final"? :|

Shoot. Missed Foxwoods. They'd want gamblers anyway, though, there. Not like they're going to pick me anyway.

I could still get to NYC.

I don't know if you saw the reports from Foxwoods, but they apparently gave the written tests there but didn't audition the passers there. Instead folks had to make another appointment to travel into NYC for the audition at a later date. Alternately, they could arrange for a Skype interview (which probably wouldn't be looked on as favorably).

What can you expect, when that New Yorker map doesn't even show New England?

I was a bored newby in October 2001 when they had auditions in Baltimore, my second audition. I drove all night from Raleigh to get there. Caught a plane out at 1 pm. I vividly remember the soldiers inside the airport guarding the airport with automatic weapons.
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I went to Dave & Buster's on Wednesday. First I took the regular test. It was the last session before the Decades audition, and there were fewer auditioners than earlier; almost everyone was taking the Decades test too. I passed, but had to wait for my interview because it was time for the Decades audition. The room was nearly full for that one. Only the 2000s had a small group; they should find more 2000s contestants Thursday when they go to Towson University. Producer Geoff talked about the new theme week. Each day will be dedicated to a decade, with special sets and music. The theme of Friday's show will be

; I don't know how they'll pull that off. They were excited about doing something brand new. Most of the auditioners were experts in their decade, unlike me. The test had 15 questions. I got about 10 right and didn't pass. Then I finally had my interview for the regular audition. I think I made a good impression, but I didn't get a second interview like I did last year.
