I reduced my avatar size to below the requirements and it still didn't take. Maybe it's my computer here. :?

Is it jpeg, gif, or png? It has to be one of those formats. Mine kept getting rejected, too, until I found the error message way at the top of the page, way far away from the image uploading area. I looked at the filename and saw that I was trying to upload a bitmap image.

Thank you, Uly. I needed that. I think I'll look at my mountain goat for a while, then go back and make it smaller.

Or change it for something else.

earendel was a mariner

#39 Post by earendel » Tue Oct 09, 2007 8:17 am

who sailed the seas until he found a safe harbour on the shores of the Undyling Lands, whereupon he anchored and went forth to seek the aid of the Valar against Morgoth. He bore the Silmaril on his brow and this tocsin allowed him to pass into Taniquetil and lay his petition before the Valar. But because earendel was mortal, he was forbidden to return to Middle-earth; he and his ship, Vingilot, were set in the heavens, the Silmaril still upon his brow, as a sign of hope for the inhabitants of Middle-earth. His beloved wife, elwing, was transformed into a sea gull and flies ever forth heralding earendel's rising.

In short, folks, I'm here.

I don't care who did what but I am happy we have one place, or so I hope we have one place to call home.

I still don't like each new topic starting another thread. My hope is that we would do a daily thing and every reply that day in that thread. Sure would be easier to read most posts. I know that is but a pipedream, but I can hope. It is very hard to follow a gazillion topics. I know the transcripts and B4 should prolly be seperate.

Am I in the minortiy about this? I assume I am.

You're not alone. A lot of us liked the flat view with previews that the TUB offered us. In the discussions in the past week, it was said that flat view is not an option on any version of the phpBB software, so we'll have to live without it and do more clicking than we're used to.

However...

Since phpBB is Open Source software, it might be possible that some of us computer geeks might look into this and try to come up with an implementation of this feature. I'm not familiar with php and I have no idea how feasible that is or how much work would be involved, but there's a chance.

Jacob,

You don't watch enough sprots. The avatar is the picture of that well-known broadcaster, Pat Summerall.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

interesting things found while nosing about

#50 Post by earendel » Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:36 am

I clicked on the memberlist link and saw who was here so far. I also noticed that it will be very easy for lb13 to track posts, since it tells how many each member has done. There is also a link for identifying who's online at any given time, which is another nice feature. What isn't so nice is it shows what the user is doing at a particular moment - posting a message, checking the memberlist or something else. I guess it's no big deal, but it is a little "big brother-ish" for my taste. Yes, I know you can hide your online status.
