I don't think they lose sight of it so much as they never really even consider it as an option (which with CindyBAm may be a good deal more realistic). Not just "some money", but a million dollars. So many contestants seem to lose sight of that.
Of course for that to happen they really should consider casting people actually interested in trivia...
