Spoiler
1. A cloud hangs over this city by the sea,
I watch the ships pass and wonder
If she might be out there . . .
2. Have I doubt when I'm alone
Love is a ring, the telephone
Love is an angel disguised as lust
Here in our bed until the morning comes
Come on now try and understand
The way I feel under your command
Take my hand as the sun descends
They can't touch you now,
Can't touch you now, can't touch you now
3. I'm the devil i can do what i want,
whatever i got I'm gonna flaunt,
there's never been a rock off that I've ever lost
i cant wait to take Kage back to hell
4. Aww yeah That’s right baby.
Girl, tonight we’re gonna make love.
You know how I know, baby?
‘Cause it’s Wednesday.
And Wednesday night..
Business Time - Flight of the Conchords (mine)
5. And in your rusty scabbard now, the sand has taken seed
And though your jewel-encrusted blade
Has not been plundered still
The sea has washed across your face
And taken of its fill
And though I hoped for something to find
I could see no place to unwind
6. I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
7. World turns black and white
Pictures in an empty room
Your love starts fallin down
Better change your tune
Reach for the golden ring
Reach for the sky
Baby just spread your wings
8. As I strolled by the dockside one morning so fair
to take the salt water and breathe the sea air,
I spied an old fisherman singing this song,
"Help me now, boys, for my time isn't long."
9. And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made
And like a baby boy I never was a man
Until I saw your blue eyes cry and I held your face in my hand
And then I fell down yelling “Make it go away!”
Just make a smile come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered “How can you do this to me?”
10. Children behave,
That's what they say when we're together,
And watch how you play,
They don't understand,
And so we're,
I Think We're Alone Now - Tommy James or Tiffany
11. Oh darling I'm so lonely without you
Can't sleep at night always think about you
But if I had the chance to start all over
I would be wishing today on a four leaf clover
And leaving you with the last thing on my mind
12. Come on, come on, come on
What you gonna do with your life?
Come on, come on, come on
Chasing sparks in the nights
His old man said tomorrow is a ride that goes nowhere
But I'll pull some strings, get blackbird wings
And break us out of there
13. I see your dirty face
High behind your collar
What is done in vain
Truth is hard to swallow
So you pray to God
14. It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
15. When the world and I were young,
Just yesterday.
Live was such a simple game,
A child could play.
It was easy then to tell right from wrong.
Easy then to tell weak from strong.
When a man should stand and fight,
Or just go along.
Shades of Grey - Monkees (great song)
16. In a way, I need a change
From this burnout scene
Another time, another town
Another everything
But it's always back to you
17. I was watching while you're dancing away.
Our love got fractured in the echo and sway.
How come everybody wants to be your friend?
You know that it still hurts me just to say it.
Oh, I know that she's disgusted (oh why's that)
Cause she's feeling so abused. (oh that's too bad)
She gets tired of the lust, (oh I'm so sad)
but it's so hard to refuse.
18. It's so dreamy
Oh, fantasy free me
So you can't see me
No, not at all
In another dimension
With voyeuristic intention
Well secluded, I see all
19. I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sweep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"
20. When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the red queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head, feed your head
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
21. Take me to the desert
Where there's got to be
A whole heap of nothing
For you and me
Take me to the desert
Take me to the sand
Show me the color of your right hand.
22. Cause I'm free
Freer than a pirate on a frigate out at sea
Thank God I'm free
Driftin' all around just like a tumbleweed, oh-oh
Endicott - Kid Creole and the Coconuts
23. Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I cant wait til the morning has come
And I know that the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that youre never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you cant hide
Moondance - Van Morrison
24. Hope is your survival
A captive path I lead
No matter where you go
25. I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (nope)
I've got a brand new attitude,
And I'm gonna wear it tonight
I'm gonna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight
26. I burn burn like a wicker cabinet
Chalk white and oh so frail
I see our time has gotten stale
The tick-tock of the clock is painful
All sane and logical
I want to tear it off the wall
I hear words and clips and phrases
I think sick like ginger ale
My stomach turns and I exhale
27. I feel inclined to blow my mind
Get hung up feed the ducks with a bun
They all come out to groove about
While I search for fun in the sun
I tell you what I'll do (What will you do?)
I'd like to go there now with you
You can miss out school(Won't that be cool?)
Why go to learn the words of fools
28. I hope the fences we mended
Fall down beneath their own weight
And I hope we hang on past the last exit
I hope it's already too late
29. There are Jews in the world, there are Buddhists
There are Hindus and Mormons and then
There are those that follow Mohammed, but
I've never been one of them
Every Sperm Is Sacred - Monty Python (whoever picked this song - I salute you)

32. Why I want you, heaven knows
Though I love you with a love true
33. Im not making a joke, you know me
I take everything so seriously
If we wait for the time till all souls get it right
Then at least I know therell be no nuclear annihilation
In my lifetime Im still not right
34. Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Shave his belly with a rusty razor,
Earl-eye in the morning!
35. Up all night I could not sleep
The whiskey that I drank was cheap
With shakin hands I went and I lit up my last cigarette
Well the sun came, night had fled
And sleepy eyed I reached my bed
I saw you sleepy dreamin there all covered and warm
36. Drove through the town, drove through the country
Showed 'em how a motor could go
I said "how do you like my triple carburetor?"
And one of them whispered low
37. What if I said yes
What if I'd gone out that night
What if you'd turned left
Everything would've turned out alright
What if I'd spoke up
What'd if I'd took the keys
What if I had tried a
little harder instead of
always trying to please
38. Now where's your picket fence love
And where's that shiny car,
And did it ever get you far
You've never seem so tense love
I've never seen you fall so hard,

Waste my days
Drown aways

How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more
43. As people assemble,
Civilization is trying to find a new way to die,
But killing is really merely scene changer,
All men are bored with other men's lies.
44. I called her yesterday, it should have been tomorrow
I could not keep this joy that was inside,
I beg for her to tell me if she really loved me,
Some where a mountain is moving
Afraid it's moving without me.
45. You can't please 'em all
There's always somebody calling you down
I do my best
And I do good business
There's a lot of people asking for my time
They're trying to get ahead
46. We got back in the car and listened to a Dylan tape
we drove around the fields until it started getting late
and I went back to my hotel room on the highway
and he just got back in his car and drove away
I watch the ships pass and wonder
If she might be out there . . .

Not a problem. The last time I ran a month of LS, about a million years ago, I tried to run an stumper every day and usually failed. One time, the stumper did better than what I intended to be a gimme.
To my credit, the gimmes usually were unless I got too far back in CW history.

You know, Joey, some people spend their youths going to concerts and collecting music rather than trying so hard to impress a bunch of old people.clem21 wrote:Ah, the power of Google....MarleysGh0st wrote:A note for Estonut
And Estonut is just incredible! Not only does he identify my choices from their not being rock tunes (as a lot of other BBs are doing), but he knows all the titles and identifies two out of the three cover bands I submitted! Just...WOW!
Google THIS, you miserable little prick!

Spoiler added to obscure album name
I've also got the self-titled Great Big Sea album in a storage box in the garage and I've seen them perform at least 5 times. Should I dig up the ticket stubs for ya?

In all seriousness though man I really don't get where you're coming from. For weeks now you've been taking countless shots at me in every other post you make for no apparent reason. You only have to look at the comment you made about me in your answers for an example. Now, honestly I don't have a problem with this and I don't have a problem with you but how come I have to take all of your crap and when I make a joke about you, you automatically attack me?
I have no interest in fighting with you. It's really not worth my time so if you feel like just continuing with what you're doing go right ahead. I'll be sure not to respond anymore.

If my calling you a "miserable prick" offended you, I apologize. I thought you'd revel in it. Your first response kind of shows that you did. My intent wasn't to attack you as much as to defend myself. I didn't think you were joking about Google. I wasn't the only one, either. I added the personalized comment to my pictures of the CDs so there would be no question that I own them and didn't "Google up" someone else's images to show you.clem21 wrote:In all seriousness though man I really don't get where you're coming from. I've been going to concerts since I lied about my age and got a job at Anaheim Stadium when I was 13. I paid my way to my first concert when I was around 16. I bought my first killer stereo with a CD player in 1984, at least a year before anyone else I know owned a CD player. I've been collecting CDs since then. I have a huge collection of CDs and a wide range of musical interests. Besides the radio and late night talk shows, that's how I know the songs that I know.
To be honest, your constant self-promoting "genius," "I'm so beautiful" and "I'm surrounded by gorgeous women" comments just rubbed me the wrong way when you first started posting here. I am now kind of used to it and understand it is a part you feel you have to play.
As far as your comment "For weeks now you've been taking countless shots at me in every other post you make for no apparent reason" goes, you've done it now, you've brought out the nitpicker buried deep, deep, deep inside of me.
If you search the board for "clem*" insults by estonut and "esto*" insults by clem21 (I didn't even check under your alter-egos), you will find a tally something like this:
estonut insults clem* - 2/09, 2/19, 2/20 and 3/16. Oh, and I called you six-year old yesterday.
clem21 insults esto* - 1/09, 2/10, 2/12, 2/15, 2/23 (not an insult, but you accused me of insulting you daily), 3/04, 3/14 (maybe not an insult, but you associated me to a country song you titled "I'm Cheating On You (With The Crippled Prostitute)"), and today you "jokingly" accused me of cheating in the JFFLS game.
You'll notice that I actually made a conscious decision to stop doing that about a month ago, but you did not.
Interesting footnote:
When Concrete Blonde's "Joey" appeared as your selection for lb's final LS, I went out to Allmusic.COM and made a list of other performers of songs named "Joey" as I guessed I would see them on the JFF. I knew your submissions would be either Bon Jovi, Bob Dylan, Al Jarreau (unlikely) or Sugarland (which I own). That's how I knew your Bon Jovi choice.
No hard feelings here, bro, just wanted you to know where I was coming from.

Fair enough.
I'll make an effort and I'm sorry for accusing you. You should know that all that stuff I do that rubs you the wrong way is in jest. It's my way of messing around. Believe me in reality I'm far from a genius and far from beautiful.
I am however always surrounded by gorgeous women. Some things I just cannot help.

SORRY, y'all.
This is just too long, and like a big dummy I made the scoring too complicated. Even with my ace spreadsheet, it's taking forever.
I'll finish up tomorrow night when I'm not so depressed over Natasha Richardson.

Re: JFF Lyrically Speaking
Clem, just a little background to try to smooth the ruffled feathers:
We've been playing Bored games for years. Many of these games use the "no outside sources" rule and we're on our honor to follow that. There have been BBs, from time to time, who have been suspected of cheating in these games (the thrill of being able to say "I'm smarter than all of you" being so tempting). Usually, when game meisters suspect such shenanigans, they'll try to trap the suspect by presenting some impossibly obscure questions that could only be answered with some help from Google.
Anyway, that's why we're somewhat sensitive to the accusation being used as a joke.
Especially when the accuser forgets to add a smiley!

9. And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made
And like a baby boy I never was a man

Just make a smile come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered “How can you do this to me?”

For she's lived it ten times or more
Either it's familiar, or I just like the words...
15. When the world and I were young,

I tried to post as many lyrics as possible to all the songs, but this one . . .32. Why I want you, heaven knows
Though I love you with a love true
Familiar, but not enough lyrics to place it...
Those are the only two consecutive lines without the title in it.

I think my brain just overloaded! I go around singing #6 all the time, and I missed it, probably because of the space between two of the lines. It happens...

I see that one other person was confused by the blank line, which is a stanza break. I thought it would be less confusing that way, not more.
Aargh!

Aargh!
You threw LFHP for a loop with the first two....
He finally figured it out, but left his gag answers to the first two broken up songs....

T-Bone deserves a JJC point or three for this, because even though it wasn't one of my songs, given their theme, it should have been.

I guessed you might have gone with all movie themes, I just picked the wrong movie for one of them! ("Spinal Tap" instead of "Pick of Death")Spoiler
JJC points for Estonut as well!! Wonder who submitted the Spinal Tap song? We know it wasn't the Time Warp BB or the Blame Canada BB!

I want to give T-Bone a ton of JJC points for this answer!MarleysGh0st wrote:T_Bone0806 wrote:8. As I strolled by the dockside one morning so fair

Ah yes. This is the tale of a former obstetrician, forced into retirement because he is too old to deliver babies anymore. Yet on this fateful day he is getting ready to go out for another day of fishing when suddenly a young woman bidding her husband goodbye for the day goes into labor right there on the dock. It is quickly apparent that this birth will not go smoothly. Thus, with only the contents of his tackle box at his disposal, the elderly angler/obstetrician must rely on whatever skills he can recall in this epic ballad entitled........"The Old Man and the C-Section". Oh, yeah. I'd say this one was suggested by MARLEY

Re: Points!
Thanks for playing, everybody!!
I added points to Melo’s score as if I hadn’t screwed up. That’s a fairly hefty 14, so I couldn’t short him.
I scored LFHP based on how funny I thought each answer was (those go to 11), then deducted points (-15 to -100) for anything involving scritches, squorrels, pedophiles, or date rape. Good thing there wasn’t anything about cigarettes, huh?
Even with T-Bone's eight added JJC points, Fan was sharp enough on her whopping 10 point guesses that she came out ahead. Well done, Fan, T-Gone, and Esto! And everybody!
