C. Kennedy Senate Update

Anyway. This morning I flipped the TV on and it was still on at 7:00 am when the CBS Early Show started. It is the national news/talk show with Harry Smith and Julie Chen (I looked her up). This morning they started off with the Caroline Kennedy story and had video of reporters trying to ask her questions. When they came back from the video Harry Smith said something about people starting to object to "elites" automatically getting these appointments when Julie Chen interrupted and said that it was unfair for people to question Kennedy since the governor gets to pick. She finished with "Leave her alone, everyone!".

Can we question the governor?

A network "journalist" is saying "Leave her alone, everyone"? That just seemed bizarre to me. I know CBS isn't much of a news organization anymore but I find it hard to believe a quasi-news anchor would be critical of reporters asking questions of a person who has announced her interest in a Senate vacancy. I wasn't even sure I heard it right so I re-wound the video and watched it again. That's what she said.

A network "journalist"? I thought she was the host of "Big Brother."

I try to stay out of the political stuff but I was dumbfounded this morning. In the morning while I'm getting ready for work I've started flipping on the local CBS channel just to get the weather. Not a big deal in Houston since our weather runs the gamut of hot and humid to cool and humid but I like to know the temperature and whether or not the humidity has coalesced into actual precipitation.

I also just discovered that she is the wife of Les Moonves, the president of CBS. I guess she can be the host/anchor/whatever of any show she wants.
