Here's a headline from a north Alabama newspaper I thought LB
might be interested in seeing. Guess they don't have any of those machines that
clear the roads there either.
Northeast Alabama see first snow of season
The dusting of snow was pretty to look at for some, but the sludge it created made some roads
hazardous, prompting officials to close schools in DeKalb County Monday.

What kind of stories are thi sgeneration of young whippersnappers gonna tell their grandkids?
"When I was your age, we couldn't walk to school in half an inch of snow, and it was downhill both ways!"
Hold on, I need to freshen up my Fixodent....
Yes, I said uphill BOTH ways, you darn whippersnappers!

I learned something today -- I can knock off for the day (as my dear sainted mother used to say).
I thought that virtually all Colorado storms came in from the West, or maybe the polar express from the northwest or the big dumpers from the southwest -- the ones that come off the ocean from Southern California.
I did not know it was likely for y'all's storms to come off the plains and run up against the 14,000 foot brick wall that is Pikes Peak and sit there on top of you. OK, 8,000 foot brick wall (more or less, depending on how you measure the base elevation).
They gave the snowfall for my neighbourhood at 11.9 inches, so it had condensed a bit by the time I got out there.
We don't get a whole lot of from the directions you mentioned. I never really thought about it before, but you must get those and we don't for the exact opposite reason. You're on the other side of the mountains, which act as a barrier both ways. Ha!

We got about three inches, and I'm guessing that Fan didn't get a lot more, unless she's in some kind of favored snow zone. Anything's possible over there . . .
Ours is melting as we speak.
When I went out to shovel, it was 7-8 inches, but the sun was already dropping it down. (Yes, 24 hours of blowing snow and freezing temperatures is followed by deep blue sky, warm temps and the sun beating down brightly. Welcome to Colorado, folks!)

Like Sprots, I didn't know you rec'd most of your storms from the east. I am impressed that the ones from the south have a cool name! LOL
You never heard of Albuquerque Lows? I guess when you're on the giving end it doesn't have as much impact as being on the receiving end. Ha!
Next time one comes through I'm going to have to borrow Kiki's Jazzy to blaze a trail.

Snow just started here. We're supposed to get two inches. Pah! That doesn't even warrant a coat.
