It's not my year. I'm being shipped out for work training and will miss my audition.

My traditional crash and burn audition may have to stand as my last hurrah for this season, unless I can try my luck at a taping this fall when my job calms down.

I'm really bummed out. I think the Halloween edition was probably my best shot at actually getting on the show.

I hate to give up, but after multiple auditions, a string of failures and a fistful of "go away" cards, maybe it's time I move on to something else. Fate is obviously against me this year.

I'm sorry to see this Marley. I would imagine that they remember you, or recognize you from your many auditions. Do they ever share any anecdotes that could be interpreted as being somewhat encouraging? You know like---we had someone audition 37 times before making it to the hot seat? Do they ever say anything?

When I was talking to the production staff for the 2 days I was hanging out in the green room, they were telling stories of repeat auditioners. One girl told me about someone that had passed the test and interviewed 6 or 8 times and then got picked. She didn't know what was different the time he got picked, but obviously it happens. So keep trying!

Well, that's great to hear!

Although I'm certainly not in Marley's league, I am up to 7 unhappy cards myself. Last year I did get a 2nd interview (when they weren't a standard part of the process). And this year, I did a 2nd audition (which I haven't mentioned before) in which I did get to tape a 2nd interview, though I received my unhappy card yesterday.

When I was in the green room waiting for my turn to tape, one of the APs mentioned some guy from NJ who had auditioned 38 times (though I don't think that number was actually accurate) and just "wouldn't take the hint" (Note for the uninformed: Marley is NOT from NJ).

But it is nice to hear that there's still hope, sunflower. Getting at least to the taping was also encouraging and was actually really fun to do.

Thanks for the condolences. Good luck on your postcard stakeout.

I found this result both depressing and encouraging at the same time. On the one hand, it was nice to get some positive reinforcement from being asked to tape a 2nd interview. It tells me that at least I'm not totally hopeless from the APs perspective. On the other hand, I don't know what I can do better to break through to a "happy" card. I guess I now need to decide whether a 3rd interview in the same season makes sense or just put it on hold until next year. Does anybody have any thoughts about that?

This is probably not going to help, but I can see both sides of it.

On one hand, the staff is going to be pretty much the same for this whole season, so chances are, if you pass the test again, you'll see some of the same faces at the interview. They may remember you and if you don't have anything new to say (or a new way of saying it), I think it might not work.

On the other hand, they may like the persistence. And you never know if it will be around next season, so if you can easily audition again, maybe that's the way to go.

I guess overall, like anything else in life, do whatever you feel most comfortable with, so that you will have no regrets.

Just a question for people who have tried out multiple times, has anyone tried some witty remark like "I'm attempting to set the world record for number of times auditioning for Millionaire" or something like that?? They might think it's cute. Maybe bring a "photographer" along to document it.

The thought has crossed my mind.

However, I am "she who has the health insurance".

I don't think I'm packing it in for all eternity, but I think I may call this season a wash unless I'm lucky enough to make a taping. I just have too much work/life stuff going on to make room for a quest right now.
