the game show would translate as letters and numbers.
in fact, the two main challenges are mental arithmetic, and a scrabble-like search for the longest word in a group of semi-random letters.
inflatable beach toys HAS appeared a contest element in a French show. But not this one.
ENTREE IS STARTER. It comes from the verb "enter". PLAT PRINCIPAL is main dish. Appetizer is close, but starter is closer. HORS D'OEUVRE for appetizer, but i havent seen that term in Montreal at least for a while., but it is the usual translation
14-12 for G

I think the "gotcha" in this question, was that he was looking for properly written FRENCH menu. I guess us Yanks just don't get it!ontellen wrote:So why do all the menus list the entrees as the main dishes?
yup. Entree for main dish is an mericanism.
The Yanks get peeved at the little plates they get when they order an entree from a properly done French menu.

OK - now that was weird. I didn't write the part that says:
yup. Entree for main dish is an mericanism.
The Yanks get peeved at the little plates they get when they order an entree from a properly done French menu.
How did somebody add that to my post???
