The "smartest" people in the world are going to get us all killed with AI.
I have listened to a lot of commentary on the "Hugging Face" incident (this summer)-this is a very good very short (about 2 minutes long) about the incident.

Shit, a farmer from Minnesota who essentially knows nothing about computers, but predicted AI's and such developing their own languages and communication methods saw stuff like this coming.
Hell, you had a swarm (many, many, many) of AI's communicating in secret within OpenAI for months and those "smart" bastards at OpenAI didn't have a clue what was going on.

A little over a half hour of pure humor (and terror).

OpenAI's very recent presentation at the Black Hat 2026 conference on the incident(s).
They really had (have) no clue what was going on on their own network.
Their main takeaway at the end which is absolutely frustrating given what happened is that:
"We all need to work together to develop better "Good" AI's to watch for this kind of stuff being used by bad actors.
NO!!! A 'Bad Actor" didn't do this-it was your own frickin' AI's and you had absolutely no clue what was going on.

I know nobody's responded yet, but I think you're mostly preaching to the choir here. To paraphrase my students: "Ain't nobody want this." Except the oligarchs, of course.

I know-but this language/communication/swarm crap thing really pissed me off.mrkelley23 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2026 3:18 pmI know nobody's responded yet, but I think you're mostly preaching to the choir here. To paraphrase my students: "Ain't nobody want this." Except the oligarchs, of course.
For now-as seen in the prior post-I will probably use the thread to store links (for future personal reference) as it is as good a place as any for me to access ones that strike ma as ones I don't want to lose in the flood.
