Lyrically Speaking Game 5

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Thu May 07, 2026 10:51 pm

We close out the first week with a theme game, and I will give 5 points for this one. The theme is an element in the lyrics, but not the quoted lyrics.

1. We weren't in love oh no far from it
We weren't searching for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Living by the sword

2. They sat on the stoney ground
And he took a cigarette out
And everyone else came down
To listen

3. A man in a silk suit hurries by
As he catches the poor old ladies' eyes
Just for fun he says, "Get a job"

4. Everyone I know
Everywhere I go
People need some reason to believe
I don't know about anyone but me

5. Can't keep my hands to myself
Think I'll dust 'em off, put 'em back up on the shelf
In case my little baby girl is in need
Am I coming out of left field?

6. The Cuervo Gold
The fine Colombian
Make tonight a wonderful thing

7. San Christobal on New Year's Day
Sunny beach, L.A.
Blue and coral Kirkstall skies
Timorese sunrise

8. There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be heaven or this could be hell

Bonus: What is the theme?

Image Bonus: It's the weekend, so show me something you like to do on the weekend.

This is Texas' newest state park, Palo Pinto Mountains State Park. It opened only a month or so ago. We will be going there tomorrow for some hiking and nature enjoyment. I'm not sure how much hiking we'll do as our daughter is coming with my 5 year-old granddaughter (who will out hike me) and our 3 year-old grandson, who will be ready to be carried after the first 1/2 mile.
