Lyrically Speaking Game 4

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Wed May 06, 2026 9:05 pm

Can you name that tune in four notes? Identify these songs from the first four words.

When I was planning this game I thought the last two started the same way, but there is a difference.

1. The legend lives on

2. I close my eyes

3. I remember the thirty-five

4. Well, it's eight o'clock

5. I have a mansion

6. She packed my bags

7. Was the third of

8. It was the third

Bonus: If it's eight o'clock in the city named in the first line of #4, what time is it in the city where the group that sang it got started?

Spoiler
1. The legend lives on - Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot

2. I close my eyes - Dust in the Wind - Kansas (Would not be surprised if this one doesn't lead off more songs)

3. I remember the thirty-five - My Old School - Steely Dan

4. Well, it's eight o'clock - What's Your Name - Lynyrd Skynyrd (Almost gave up on this one....)

5. I have a mansion - Life's Been Good To Me So Far - Joe Walsh

6. She packed my bags - I think the next line is something like "12:30 flight," but it's leading me nowhere....

7. Was the third of

8. It was the third - Papa Was A Rolling Stone - Temptations (This got played enough at 6AM on Mecca Radio for me to be pretty sure "It" is there....)

Bonus: If it's eight o'clock in the city named in the first line of #4, what time is it in the city where the group that sang it got started? - Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

Well, crap! Now I gotta determine if Boise is in Mountain or Pacific time, and whether LS is from Alabammy or Florida. I think it's Mountain and Eastern, so I'll say 10 PM
