Liz Cheney
With Liz Cheney coming out with a memoir I am curious why many Republicans are so vehemently against her. When you examine her voting record in the House, she was a staunch conservative, voting with the 45th President more than 85% of the time. There are so few women in the upper echelons of the Rep. Party (and the Democrats for that matter), that you would think that a conservative woman with a well-established name would be the kind of candidate the Party would be grooming. Is fealty to the 45th President now the litmus test for whether someone is a "true" Republican? Otherwise, from a pure ideological standpoint, I cannot figure out why she was ousted from her position.

There's a wide, very wide, gap between fealty and being one of the few Republicans to vote to impeach your party's president on such weak evidence.kroxquo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 8:25 amWith Liz Cheney coming out with a memoir I am curious why many Republicans are so vehemently against her. There’s a large chunk of people in the state of Wyoming, who are conspiracy mongering goons who have an alternate reality where they think everyone in New York City is a gay immigrant who means to rob them and force them to get vaccinated.
There is a new book by Tim Alberta talking about how this subset of Americans have traded God and Jesus Christ for weird theories about persecution, that will never happen. These folks know that Donald Trump is evil, but they believe they need an evil man to protect them from the rest of America.
Liz Cheney doesn’t think badly toward other Americans, and indeed, because the evidence backed it, believes that the election was properly held. She should be glad they simply voted her out - in some future fantasy held by these folks, she would be executed.

Re: Liz Cheney
Ten Republicans, including Chaney and Kinzinger, voted to impeach Trump the second time. Four others did not vote. Seven Republican Senators voted to convict him.
The Republicans have degenerated to the stage where fealty to one man is more important than any of the principles and positions the party once stood for.

But that's the point. During her time in the House, she served Wyoming well, consistently voting the conservative line that her constituents expected and specifically advocating positions to benefit the people of Wyoming. On balance, she was a very good representative for her state. So why is she persona non grata in her party both nationally and in Wyoming?tlynn78 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 12:31 pmShe was ousted because she failed to perform as expected by her constituents.BackInTex wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 10:09 amThere's a wide, very wide, gap between fealty and being one of the few Republicans to vote to impeach your party's president on such weak evidence.kroxquo wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 8:25 amWith Liz Cheney coming out with a memoir I am curious why many Republicans are so vehemently against her. Re: Liz Cheney
I hesitate to use the word "hate" under any circumstances, but it truly bothers me that a man who is very open about his disdain for the norms that have served as the foundation of this republic, instilled doubt in the democratic process itself that led to the January 6 insurrection/riot/peaceful protest (pick your term), and poses an existential threat to the Constitution itself is not only tolerated but embraced by the majority of Republicans both in and out of power can still hold such sway. Call it Derangement Syndrome if you like, but to me, opposing the 45th President is just merely patriotism.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 05, 2023 3:15 pmThere is a small group of people, indoctrinated by well-funded and powerful people who want to 'fundamentally change' this country, who have been thoroughly propagandized into believing that anyone who disagrees with any of their false narratives is a 'conspiracy mongering goon' or whatever label they come up with on any given day. Re: Liz Cheney
Liz's memoir does confirm one thing that I've known for years: that people like Former Guy and Mike Johnson are fake Christians, and that they have only been interested in courting votes from other fake Christians like Flock and Spock. Case in point is how Liz's House GOP colleagues have secretly referred to Former Guy as "Orange Jesus", which is the textbook definition of blasphemy.
It's the kind of thing that makes me wish the Rapture would happen today just so we could look down on the faces of Mike Johnson and Spock as they discover that they've been left behind. After the sky closes, the Orange Jesus comes forward to speak to the fawning and bowing crowd of all those left behind. The Orange Jesus thanks them for their unwavering fealty and their deliberate ignorance of God's Word, then reveals himself to be the antichrist and delights in how many people will be serving him in Hell for eternity as the Earth suddenly hurtles toward the Sun while Faux News ironically reports that global warming is a hoax. Meanwhile, all of the so-called "thugs" and "vermin" are living safely in Heaven and watching every single reaction of Former Guy's concubines as they gradually incinerate on GodTV, making it the most watched TV program in history. Former Guy and his acolytes would finally get the ratings that they care so much about.

Cheney is considering a third-party run for the presidency, but says she won't do it if she thinks it will result in Trump being re-elected. Since Romney and Manchin aren't running on the No Labels ticket, maybe Cheney will.

They’re still so angry and hateful. Sad indeed.

Re: Liz Cheney
It Is very worrisome that a supposedly educated and intelligent person like the doc is so obsessed with Trump and convinced by the propaganda that has taken over the mainstream and social media that he is the devil in every aspect. Trump was President for 4 years, and the country functioned extremely well during that time until covid came. It functioned a lot better than it has since then. What is falsely labeled 'our democracy' did not fall and was never in any danger of falling. The only thing that changed is the abuse of power by the coalition that is threatened by Trump. They are using all their power not for the betterment of the country, but to oppose and bring down the people that oppose them having that much power, which have coalesced under Trump. The 'deplorables' and 'domestic terrorists' that dare to challenge the narratives they have created. Doc seems to believe all the people who voted against Cheney are of that category.Weyoun wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 7:18 amYou are missing the point - big surprise. Take a step back and clear your mind, doc. People like me did not become evil overnight as you seem to think. We just recognize that Washington DC has become completely corrupted and is filled with people who believe that THEY should control our lives. We have always supported limitations on the power of the federal government. That is why the Constitution was created in the first place: to restrict the power of the federal government. And in recent years it is clear that the power center in DC is ignoring all the restrictions in order to gain and retain more power over our lives. Trump, for all his personal faults, is the only national figure who seems to understand this and has the courage to fight it. And I believe he is right that the power centers of Washington DC are really targeting us, the people that want to take away their power. He is just standing in their way, which is why they're abusing all their power to take him down.
Cheney was voted out because she showed by her actions that she has thrown her support in with the Washington DC power center. She sided with the 'Swamp', which is a name given to that power center. And the 'deplorables' who want to break up the swamp's control over power in DC voted her out. That's what happened, in my opinion.

People like you don't give a rat's ass that Biden's policies are destroying our country, as long as the Orange Man isn't in power. It would serve you well to spend a bit of time among the people of Wyoming; it might clear your head.Weyoun wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 7:18 amYou are missing the point - big surprise. We are saying that her constituents don’t really care about issues like taxes or whatever. They just care about the Orange Man and getting vengeance on their perceived enemies.tlynn78 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 5:59 pmIt's quite apparent from the fact that they did not re-elect her that her constituents don't feel she adequately represented them. You are assuming, like some others here, that you know what her constituents want. Pssst - it's not always what you think they want - or should want.kroxquo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 6:36 am
But that's the point. During her time in the House, she served Wyoming well, consistently voting the conservative line that her constituents expected and specifically advocating positions to benefit the people of Wyoming. On balance, she was a very good representative for her state. So why is she persona non grata in her party both nationally and in Wyoming?

She is disagreeing with your assessment of Cheney's constituents. You are not one nor remotely like one. T-girl is likely closer to being like one of Cheney's constituents.
Your "We are saying that her constituetnts don't really care...." my be your assessment. T-girl is says it is disagreeing.

You left out something important. He has said in so many words that if elected he will act as a dictator. Given the preparations he's making, I believe him. --Bobkroxquo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 6:46 amI hesitate to use the word "hate" under any circumstances, but it truly bothers me that a man who is very open about his disdain for the norms that have served as the foundation of this republic, instilled doubt in the democratic process itself that led to the January 6 insurrection/riot/peaceful protest (pick your term), and poses an existential threat to the Constitution itself is not only tolerated but embraced by the majority of Republicans both in and out of power can still hold such sway.
