GOFF LS Monday, September 4
One day down and we're movin' on...
My three Alexa sources didn't provide me with a decent playlist, so today's is courtesy of Yardbarker. With a personal addition. Yes, you heard right, today we're goin' to 11!!!!11 Why? Because it's one more than 10...
Remember, 5 points for the title, 5 for the artist and 5 for the next line, LITTLEBEAST13!
1. I ain’t working here no more
My woman done left and took all the reason
I was working for
2. Everyone's watching, to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight
3. They offered me the office, offered me the shop
They said I'd better take anything they got
Do you wanna make tea at the BBC?
4. Tumble out of bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
5. As soon as you're born,
They make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
6. Rain’s comin' down and the roof won't hold 'er
Lost my job and I feel a little older
Car won't run and our love's grown colder
7. Up every morning just to keep a job
I gotta fight my way through the hustling mob
Sounds of the city pounding in my brain
8. It's a big job just getting by with nine kids and a wife
But I've been working man damn near all my life
And I'll keep working
9. Somedays won't end ever
And somedays pass on by
I'll be working here forever
At least until I die
10. Give me a job, give me security
Give me a chance to survive
I'm just a poor soul in the unemployment line
11. Heading out to San Francisco
For the Labor Day weekend show
I got my Hush Puppies on
What's today's playlist (nothing fancy, no trickery involved)

Huh? Oh, yeah. I do remember you saying that now. Though given how bad most of the songs were in the opener, forgoing next line points may have been a justifiable casualty...

My woman done left and took all the reason

Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight

Five O'Clock World - One of those 60's bands. The Vogues, I think. No, I don't know the next line offhand...
8. It's a big job just getting by with nine kids and a wife

Spoiler
1. I ain’t working here no more
My woman done left and took all the reason
I was working for
Take This Job and Shove It - Johnny Paycheck
You better not try to stand in my way as I go walking out the door
4. Tumble out of bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Workin' 9 to 5 - Dolly Parton
What's today's playlist (nothing fancy, no trickery involved) - Labor Day!

THIS ONE GOES TO ELEVEN
I ended yesterday's intro with a quote from what 1984 movie? - This is Spinal Tap
Bonus for the GOFF Meister:
I know the music I listen to somehow doesn't show up on others' playlists, so I'll provide this one which would surely have been appropriate for today's game, if you'd known about it.

What's today's playlist (nothing fancy, no trickery involved) Working! Channeling Studs Terkel, are we?
Since I'm not getting any of the bonuses, how about a Studs Terkel story? He came to our college by way of introduction to the Drama Department's production of Working. He gave a compelling presentation, and what I remember best is how he lit into Five Easy Pieces because of how the Jack Nicholson character treated the waitress character. He said that she was the hero of the movie, not Nicholson.
