And my mother said I was wasting time watching MTV.

How about

4. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson

31. Pay Phone - Maroon 5
103. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker (I think he used a pay phone in there somewhere)

62. Running on Empty - Jackson Browne
70. Modern Love - David Bowie (might be a stretch but it opens with Bowie running on stage)

42. Dominick the Donkey - Lou Monte
74. The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades - Timbuk 3
You live and learn. Or at least you live. - Douglas Adams

When I mentioned a song with extraneous words in the title back on November 20, 2021.... this was the one I was referring to! I think the match is better without all the extra words...

If it helps, I looked up the unmatched songs. The ones released in the 1980s are 3, 6, 19, 22, 25, 50, 59, 63, 66, 73, 78, 84, 87, 100 & 108.

It would be easy to watch all these on YouTube, but I'm going to restrain myself ... for now.

Of course, in the case of "I Love Rock and Roll," had I included it in the game, that wouldn't have helped! Apparently it was originally shot in color, but Joan didn't like how she looked in her red leather outfit, so it was changed to black and white. The official uploaded video on YT is the color version, which threw me off when I looked it up the other day.... but let me learn something in the process!

This was such a great idea I tried to come up with a few other pairs that would work:

Wild, Wild West/Escape Club
Mirrors/Justin Timberlake

Sledgehammer/Peter Gabriel
The Chicken Dance

Bad/Michael Jackson
Don't Sleep in the Subway/Petula Clark

Come On, Eileen/Dexy's Midnight Runners
Down on the Corner/Creedence Clearwater Revival

Thanks! I knew you were a video fan too and wasn't sure if you'd done this idea before, so I posted it with a bit of trepidation. Just wish it hadn't been so hard to figure out....

And Sledgehammer/Dixie Chicken was one of my early cuts. There was so much going on in that video, I didn't know if anything really stood out...

Thanks, LB. It makes me wonder what I was doing musically in the 80s, besides not watching music videos (okay, I had a great stereo and lots of CDs that I played loud and proud).

It's unfortunate that your hard work gets so little Bored attention. We must do better.

I guess we can play Lyrically Speaking, now!
