Re: Lyrically Speaking Special #2 - Man On The Moon
Updated consolidation:
I looked up the two remaining unidentified lyrics, so this should be complete.
I can't help feeling that BEAST OF BURDEN and DOMINICK THE DONKEY belong together....
Identify the following 120 songs from the provided lyrics, and then match them into 60 pairs based on a Tangredi, or a principle you must discover for yourself.
Alternate matches are very possible, however, I am (reasonably) confident there will be only one best solution to the game.
Good luck and have fun!

Re: Lyrically Speaking Special #2 - Man On The Moon
Everything here looks good! Or at least, good enough to be able to solve the game...
I think free association is most likely to yield the a-ha moment, but unlike in other such games where focusing on the oddballs is often the best tactic, I think in this game, concentrating on some of the more popular entries will work better...

I believe the odds of picking six songs at random that ALL belong on the same side of the Tangredi match would be 1 in 32....... and yet, you've managed to do it!

To expand on this comment, and hopefully give a helpful (unsubtle) hint....
All of the songs on one side of the match have something in common. Something which all but a very few of the songs on the other side of the match do not.... including all six songs listed above.

Re: Lyrically Speaking Special #2 - Man On The Moon
I've checked key words, common words, moon references, alliteration, chart position...
I got nothin'. Sorry.
Did I mention I'm not very good at these?

Re: Lyrically Speaking Special #2 - Man On The Moon
Still trying to figure this out. There's got to be a clue in the title of the game, Man on the Moon.
There's also got to be something significant in the fact that he had to resort to three instrumentals - Frankenstein, Rockit, and the Pink Panther theme - in order to get this Tangredi to work.
It seems like there must be something true of the Pink Panther that is not true of Dominick the Donkey....

I've also dropped a few hints in my comments. The first one in particular would almost have to lead to the theme if properly deciphered...franktangredi wrote: ↑Thu Dec 23, 2021 11:11 amStill trying to figure this out. There's got to be a clue in the title of the game, Man on the Moon.

The "good man" thing seems like it would be a hint.Hmmmm....
I didn't think this theme was going to be easy, but I sure thought a good man would have figured it out by now.

I've been puzzling over that phrase looking for a connection. Charlie Brown? A few? John Goodman? If you find your man, the game's title will then make sense, and you'll instantly see several of the matches that were there all along...

Oh my stars....
I can post one of the matches that was a last minute cut from the game if you want.... though that's not going to bring back all of our dedicated game players to the Bored.

That constellation is Orion and the bright star at the top is Betelgeuse.
Now what? Celestial bodies?
Please post the match that was cut. Maybe then...

The other bright star (other "shoulder") is Bellatrix, for what that's worth.

Re: Lyrically Speaking Special #2 - Man On The Moon
These two songs were to be a match in this game, however it was one of my final cuts when I realized one of the songs made too strong of an alternate match with another song in the game. I also realized, just last night, that there's another slight problem with this match..... but, eh, at this point, what does it matter?
Song A: And now a child can understand
That this is the law of all the land
All the land
Song B: The beat was goin' strong
Playin' my favorite song
And I could tell it wouldn't be long
'Til he was with me, yeah, me

I Love Rock and Roll/Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
The 'Black' in the title of one and artist of the other jumps to the eye, but it can't just be that.

The match that inspired this game in the first place is, I think, its weakest point for deciphering the theme. There is one obscure (by Bored musical standards) song in this game whose title should just scream another song that's in the game. The obscure song is an earworm at work, and always makes me think of the other song when it's played....
The fact that I'm getting nowhere with my clues worries me, though...
