Things that make me not want to live on this planet any more.

I mean, besides the obvious.

Hand to God, just had an individual in my office ask, with a straight face, "Would I be better off hiring an attorney, or would a lawyer be better?"

TBF if he hired a lawyer he would have an attorney
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

The Michigan Bar Association has plenty of qualified attorneys and lawyers ready to serve! We will be happy to bill by both the hour and per sixty minutes....

Why would you assume "an individual" identifies as male?

Because "were they" is dissonant.

And why would you call out Bob J on this when TMITSS used the same masculine reference earlier in this thread?

The appraisal lady that was training me in made it very clear that she was married at the time to a scum sucking bottom feeder er I mean attorney and not a lawyer. She corrected me very firmly when I referred to him as a "lawyer."

BTW-do you have another planet as an option to live on?

There's a planet that's populated entirely by robots. It's much more peaceful than Earth.

How about Texas House Bill 3979 that recently became law, which forbids instruction that causes students to “feel discomfort, guilt, anguish or any other form of psychological distress on account of the individual’s race or sex.”
