Huddled in bathroom - UPDATED below

#1 Post by mellytu74 » Wed Sep 01, 2021 3:35 pm

Ida remnants. 70 mph gusts.

Can't see across back porch.

Boonie went to get a beer.

We are fine.

Yikes. Stay safe. Tho- there are worse reasons to be huddled in the bathroom.. so I've heard.

Shit!!! Protect yourselves and the beer. Do not go onto a front stoop.
Well, then

Not a bad idea as long as the bathtub has ice and beer.

I hope everyone is O.K. The news looks terrible.

I used to be a news junky. All the bad news started to get to me, so I stopped watching it on TV. Now I've unsubscribed from a lot of email news feeds. I know several people who have stopped any news input, my granddaughters included.

Is this a problem? If so, is there a solution?

We got hit pretty hard here in SE Mass. It was much worse than Henri.

Lots of roads closed due to flooding.

UPDATE: Re: Huddled in bathroom UPDATE

#13 Post by mellytu74 » Thu Sep 02, 2021 5:55 pm

Hi!

We are good. (see below).

Immediate surrounding towns aren't so lucky. Conshohocken and Bridgeport, places we go frequently, are flooded in sections. Lots of water rescues. There has not be flooding like that since 1869.

The normal crest of the Schuylkill River in Norristown is 13 feet. It was 26,5 feet this morning.

Neighborhoods in Philadelphia along the Schuylkill are also got hit hard. The block next to where the Made in America festival is underwater.

There was an E3 tornado in Mullica Hill, NJ. Home to lots of cute antique shops - also farms. A dairy farm have severe damage. We drive by all these places on the way to Wildwood.

US:

We are OK.

We were near the path of an E2 tornado. We had several tree branches ripped from the front tree. They landed on the power lines next to our house,

We had a couple of small fires - the fire dept couldn't do anything because they lines were still live. We still had power.

A deluge at 9 p.m. put out the fires.

The fire dept wanted us to be packed to go just in case. We slept in the rec room.

We can't clean up because PECO hasn't been here yet. We still have police tape on the front yard.

We've gotten an emergency call from the water company to keep water usage at a minimum because two water treatment plants were damaged.

But, overall, we are so much luckier than many many people.

Those small fires freaked me out but, overall ....

:) :) :) :)
