LeVar Burton is 64, so I can't see him being a long-term solution.

After tonight, I think Payton Manning should get a shot.

If history is any indication, he won't make it past the first round.

Jeopardy executive producer Mike Richards, who hosted the show for two weeks following Ken Jennings' stint, is in "advanced negotiations" to become the permanent host for the new season. No deal has been finalized yet, and discussions are ongoing with others, but Richards is the front-runner, according to Variety. Supposedly, Ken Jennings, Mayim Bialik, and Buzzy Cohen also made strong impressions with the producers. I would assume they would have to name the new host soon, since taping for the next season should begin in the near future.

Tweet from The Ringer writer Claire McNeal, who also wrote a book about Jeopardy!:

When Mike Richards, the likely next host of Jeopardy!, stepped in to guest host in February, he told viewers it was an emergency after the planned host fell through. Sources say that’s not true: a host was lined up, and Richards insisted on stepping in.

Sony Pictures Television is set to announce that Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards will host the long-running daily syndicated program and actress Mayim Bialik will host primetime and spin-off specials of the famed quiz show, The Daily Beast has learned.

Richards, who had been the frontrunner for a hosting gig, will start Season 38 as host of the daily syndication while Bialik, best known for her starring role in CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, will host new spin-off series—the first of which will be the Jeopardy! National College Championship on ABC.

It's official. The J! site has a screenshot of the official announcement from Sony. The J!board community isn't happy about the "choice" of Mike Richards. My conspiracy-theory belief is that the other guest hosts were merely fill-ins while Richards and Sony worked out the details of his taking the helm - such as will he continue to be the executive producer.

The selection of Richards was not well received on Twitter and other sites. Many think choosing Miyam was a CYA move in case Richards doesn’t work out for any reason (see esto’s post up thread).

I couldn't access the NYT editorial because it was behind a paywall. However, the "anti-vax" comments she made were in a 2012 column about vaccines for children in general and not in regard to the COVID vaccine. The gist of her column was that she attempted to research various vaccines before making a decision about what to do in regard to her children. That has nothing to do with what her opinions might be about the Covid vaccine or virus, neither of which existed in 2012.

In fact, Bialik came out publicly in favor of the Covid vaccine and revealed that she and her two sons, age 12 and 15, have been vaccinated.

I felt Bialik was rather creepy. I get the same vibes from some Mensa members, e.g., John McAfee.

Mike Richards got the job only because he sleeps with the producer.

New "Jeopardy!" host Mike Richards is apologizing for some insensitive remarks he made about women on his old podcast ... he says it's "a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment."

Here's the deal ... Mike used to host a podcast from 2013 to 2014 when he was the executive producer at "The Price Is Right" and he's now under fire for referring to his female co-host as a "booth ho" and "booth slut," among other degrading remarks aimed at women.

The podcast, called "The Randumb Show," has already been scrubbed from the Internet after The Ringer reported on Mike's derogatory comments, which also include him asking his female co-host and his assistant if they had ever taken "booby pictures," during a segment about leaked celebrity nudes.

Mike's apologizing in a statement, via Sony, telling us ... "It is humbling to confront a terribly embarrassing moment of misjudgment, thoughtlessness, and insensitivity from nearly a decade ago. Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast and I am deeply sorry."

He adds ... "The podcast was intended to be a series of irreverent conversations between longtime friends who had a history of joking around. Even with the passage of time, it’s more than clear that my attempts to be funny and provocative were not acceptable, and I have removed the episodes."
