Walgreens in San Francisco "Shrugged"

Shades of "Atlas Shrugged."

Your leftist hellholes might think shoplifting is OK-but you can't force businesses to stay there and put up with it. (Yet)

Tenth Walgreens in San Francisco to close since 2019.

>>>>"Walgreens locations in San Francisco have often been a target of rampant shoplifting, with a recent incident even caught on camera during an "Inside Edition" segment. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that one Walgreens location lost on average about $1,000 a day in merchandise because of shoplifting. Theft of less than $950 in goods is treated as a nonviolent misdemeanor under California law."<<<<

You don't think that loss of business due to the pandemic might have had something to do with it?

And, BTW, Walgreeens had announced in 2019 that they were planning to close 200 stores nationwide in upcoming months and that was well before the pandemic hit. Between the 2019 announcement and August 2020, which were the latest figures I could find, Walgreens closed about 1,000 locations nationwide.

I don't think Walgreens was hurt much by the pandemic.

2019 Revenues were $136 million
2030 Revenues were $139 million
Same store sales rose 3.7%

But a company that loses $365,000 year through theft would be wise to close that store. So maybe their just being wise. What do you think?

The local Rite-Aid became a Walgreens. It seems to be doing well. I've been buying my aspirin there for years, first as a Rite-Aid and now Walgreens.

San Francisco continues to shrug.

Target stores are now closing at 6:00PM due to increased shoplifting in the evenings. No, this is not a COVID response as Head-in-the-sand SSS would have you believe. It is a direct response to the increased criminal behavior encouraged by Democratic officials and their policies.

This, like food deserts, hurt minorities more than others. Foolish policies put in place by Democrats, purportedly to benefit minorities does the opposite. Common sense says to arrest and prosecute criminal behavior else it will increase, but Democrats look at criminal prosecutions and see that minorities are over represented. But rather than address other Democratic policies that created that problem (not so Great Society) they instead decide to not punish the bad actors within the minority community which hurt the entire community.

One problem is denial, as SSS exemplified above, shifting the blame, thus ignoring a proper solution, to something else (COVID).
