Vaccine signup

#1 Post by Beebs52 » Mon Feb 01, 2021 6:14 pm

It's sorta funny. We've signed up at Kroger, our primary physician, Chi St Lukes and Mont County. Other sites are ...meh. Not working.

Try this number, bbk: 800-845-8035.

You’d have to come to Washington county but it’s available to any texas resident. You’re over 65, right?

It’s a so-called sub hub set up a couple of weeks ago. It’s running very smoothly and it’s in Lois Kolkhorst’s district and she has some pull. I think they’re in line to get quite a few doses every week from now on. I think they’re not accepting calls right now but I’m not sure about that. I’d just suggest that you keep trying.

I got lucky and got my second phizer shot last Wednesday.

Good luck!

Wouldn’t hurt to call the damned number. And then to do it again every day.

Trust me on this.

Lois Kolkhorst is a good friend.

No excuse for being lazy about this, bbk!

Okay. I figured you’d get that but I’m saying you should keep trying daily.

I’m gonna bug you about this. Same as you did me about voting back in the day.

We're in Phase 1b in Arizona. You have to be over 75 if you're not in one of the special jobs.

I'm expecting things to start ramping up in the next 6-8 weeks, maybe sooner. Until then it's a matter of keep on trying (if you are eligible) or managing to be in the right place at the right time.

I have some friends who have managed to get three of the four in their family vaccinated. She (50 years old) recovered from Covid abut a month ago. She also helped an 80 YO neighbor who couldn't figure out how to register on-line get her shots. Which led to another neighbor asking for her help, and on and on. She says she's lined up about 40 older folks who were old enough to be on the list get their shots. But along the way she became a known element at her health department. Sure enough, the day came that they had extra vaccines and no one waiting. They called my friends and both of them (he is 54) just got their second shot last week. They also enrolled their 13 YO daughter in a test program for Covid kids vaccines. She got her second shot last Thursday. (Of course, while there is a chance that she got a placebo they are pretty sure she got the real thing due to swelling etc.) Their 11 YO son is the only one not been vaccinated.

This all happened about a month ago. I'm expecting that once they get their act together there will always be an "on call' list ready and waiting.

For what it's worth, I had my annual checkup today and mentioned to my doctor that Mrs. SSS and I had received the Phizer vaccine. He said that the current research indicates that Phizer is actually more effective against these new strains than Moderna (of course, he cautioned that the findings are constantly changing).

Pima County (where I live) is finally letting those over 70 make appointments for the county to administer the COVID vaccine. It's been just those over 75 until now.

On another front, I read about some places that are so strictly complying with the restrictions that they are actually discarding unused vaccine doses.

That's great news. Please do remember (a) it takes a week or two for full effectiveness to kick in, and (b) we don't know whether the vaccinated can still transmit the disease to others. So please continue to be careful for yourself and for others. --Bob

The vaccine is now available for those over 65, but there's a shortage. I'll let those in dangerous situations get theirs first.

Just what I need. My office already calls me Typhoid Mary because I rarely get sick when everyone else around me does. Add this to the list.
