The TV commercial that drives me creezy...

#1 Post by silvercamaro » Thu Dec 31, 2020 2:03 am

...is the one in which a young woman begins, "My feeverite thing about binking with Chime is getting my pee chicks up to two dees early."

I exaggerate a tiny bit (but not by much.) In what part of North America do people actually have accents that don't seem to recognize differences between vowel sounds in English words?

What do you think of Ikea's "Start the Car" or GMC's "One for You, One for Me"?

I just saw it.

That "bank" is for those people who can't get a regular bank account. I wouldn't be surprised if proof of citizenship is not required.

Be thankful you don't live in Georgia. Every commercial break includes multiple political commercials for the two Senate races, usually bashing one or more of the candidates. And by now, they are almost all the same. I also get multiple flyers in the mail every day imploring me to vote for one candidate or another.

That doesn't include the multiple emails and text messages I get every day either soliciting money or prompting me to vote early. And by the way, I've already donated all I care to and I've already voted, and my vote and Mrs. SSS's vote have been accepted (you can check on the status of your absentee ballot at the secretary of state's site, which tells you if it's been received and if so, accepted or rejected).

My wife would love it if I dropped 100 large on two GMC vehicles without asking her first.

Definitely the worst!

But I did appreciate Saturday Night Live's spoof of the Lexus commercial in this same theme.

I have been bitching about this one for weeks, to the point of driving my wife crazy with it every time it airs. I mean, c'mon, lady..dude just bought you a freakin' truck, and you're giving him grief over the color? You want the black one so badly, howzabout YOU take over the damn payments on it, you ungrateful *****************!!!!

OK, you now see why my wife wants to leave the room whenever this ad comes on.

But as much as that one annoys me, it's nothing compared to those unbearable Liberty Mutual ads...every single one of them drives me bananas, and the most recent one somehow manages to raise the bar of obnoxiousness even higher..the one where the one kid is overjoyed to get Liberty Mutual insurance for Christmas, while his brother is pissed because he "only" got a bike. Then you have the stupid Buddy cop duo of Doug and his emu partner. Tag every L.M. ad with that annoying jingle, and the mute button becomes your new best friend

It would seem that insurance commercials have replaced used car dealership ads as most obnoxious, as the Progressive ads, with or without Flo and company, fuel my disdain. The non-Gecko ads for Geico also score no points with me, but the little green dude is ok in my book. Only the Farmers commercials are tolerable, largely due to the presence of JK Simmons.

After reading back the above diatribe, I have come to the conclusion that I may have a serious problem.

Every pharmaceutical ad comes with a similar warning:

Don’t take Taltz if you’re allergic to Taltz

Gee, thanks, Big Pharma, you’re a life saver.

I can’t stand that smug little bearded guy in the tdameritrade ads.

“They say kale is okay if you blanch it but ...”

He evidently thinks he is cute.

I am apparently missing all sorts of fun using my TiVo with commercial skip most of the time.

Yeah, these types of ads also draw "commentary" from me, to the "delight" of my wife.

You need to have an ID. That doesn't require citizenship, but many others don't have any valid ID.

Edith Piaf singing "Je ne regrette rien" in the All State commercials in which various items are left on car roofs.

Couldn’t have told you who sang it or what it was but I don’t mind hearing it over and over in my head until something else takes over, which usually doesn’t take that long.

It didn't bother me at first, but after seeing/hearing it every half hour for the last 3 months or so...especially during sportscasts...I am bothered. VERY bothered.

It's 5:45 on Election Day and I just heard multiple campaign ads (for both parties) during a commercial break on the local news. Do the candidates think that someone is going to make up their minds after seeing this one last ad, then hop in a car and drive to their polling place before the polls close at 7:00?

There is yet another pharma ad, this one for Embrel.

They are measuring things including a 'puddle' of fabric. Not only did they just throw the tape measure over the fabric haphazardly but then they go to cut it without smoothing it out first. That would create such a disaster and waste of fabric. And it looks like a pretty expensive piece of fabric!

I know, probably doesn't bother anyone else.

Not quite as bad as a Quilted Northern TP ad a ways back where the cartoon ladies are 'quilting' the TP with knitting needles.
"A bed without a quilt is like the sky without stars"
