My Way to Rebel Against Mask Mandates
Here in Minnesota we have had a mask mandate since July 25th.
Anecdotally, it is being honored less and less as time goes by-
But as there are certain places where you have to wear a mask-I just use the same dirty mask I have worn for months.
Hey, they don't mandate a clean mask.

Re: My Way to Rebel Against Mask Mandates
I don't have an issue with that. The purpose of a mask is to protect others from you. If you don't mind wearing a dirty mask against your nose and mouth, I don't see any reason anyone else should care. --BobSpock wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:55 pmHere in Minnesota we have had a mask mandate since July 25th.

Anecdotally, Minnesota reported over 2,000 new cases today. I wonder if there's any correlation.

Can you explain what that accomplishes?Spock wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:55 pmHere in Minnesota we have had a mask mandate since July 25th.

I find it interesting how those who are against mask mandates have no issue with pants mandates.

My grandmother had a similar attitude about wearing her hearing aid...she wore it because we told her too, but she'd literally put it in without the battery as a way of rebelling. She showed us.
Of course, she was quite senile at the time.

Re: My Way to Rebel Against Mask Mandates
I'm sorry Spock, but common sense, not mandates, make me wear a mask. They do, to some degree, protect you as well as others. Just like social distancing or washing hands or using sanitizer.
I think businesses are entirely right to require them.
With that said, Gavin Newsome would be greatly disheartened to know that we'll be having Thanksgiving inside, represented by four households, no masks, real dishware and probably shouting by the kiddos.

Re: My Way to Rebel Against Mask Mandates
Mrs. SSS and I have attended Thanksgiving dinner nearly every year at my brother-in-law's. He has a bed-and-breakfast near Lake Allatoona. Usually, there are about 20-30 people total. We will not be attending this year. They are all very nice people, but I doubt all of them have been real good about mask wearing and social distancing and various other safety measures.
I enjoy these get-togethers. I enjoy seeing the relatives.
I don't want to see them a month later at Mrs. SSS's funeral.

Still waiting for a simple answer, but if the answer is "as a protest," it's a lame-ass protest if nobody notices and nobody cares.franktangredi wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 7:24 amCan you explain what that accomplishes?Spock wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 4:55 pmHere in Minnesota we have had a mask mandate since July 25th.

Insensitive, to be sure, but it was 12 people eating outdoors at a restaurant. That's not particularly dangerous, particularly if the tables were spread apart as required. --BobBeebs52 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 8:19 pmSay what?

This is the only picture of an outside dining room I can find for the French Laundry. Note there are 12 chairs at this table. Further, the temperature in Napa was 52° at 6:00 PM, dropping down to 46° at midnight. I don't believe that anyone would pay $4200 to sit outside in that cold for a birthday dinner/party.Bob78164 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 10:20 pmInsensitive, to be sure, but it was 12 people eating outdoors at a restaurant. Tables are portable. So are heaters. --BobEstonut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:57 amThis is the only picture of an outside dining room I can find for the French Laundry. Articles in the SF Chronicle, LA Times and OC Register all mention either the [singular] table or quoted Newsom referring to sitting at "the larger table." Further, in high 40° weather, you have to be right next to those heaters for them to have any effect. Do you think they brought out 12 heaters?Bob78164 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 2:54 amTables are portable. Interesting photos of the "large" "loud" and "shoulder-to-shoulder" group taken by one of the servers. I've now seen the photos published today. I have no reason to doubt that they're genuine. I can't describe that table as outdoor seating. Governor Newsom's apology was neither honest nor adequate. --Bob
